Description: Designer Braben is better known for his space-faring masterpiece "Elite". The original title of the game, "Dark Side" was altered for copyright reasons. If there was ever a game to push the 32X to its limits and actually convince a gamer they were playing a 32-bit game, this is the one. Darxide is the only 32X title to exploit the use of texture-mapped polygons (as opposed to the much more bland but less CPU-intensive flat-shaded ones you see in Shadow Squadron or Virtua Racing Deluxe). Unfortunately for Japanese and North American 32X owners, Darxide is a true PAL game and must be played on UK hardware (including a PAL-compatible TV). In 2003 developer Frontier released an enhanced version of the game, "Darxide EMP" for Pocket PC's and the Nokia series 60 mobile phones.
Landmark: This was the last game released for the 32X worldwide.
