Description: Before there was Wipeout, this was the best futuristic combat racing game out there, and it still plays well! Most people have the game in just a jewel case as it was originally packaged with the Panasonic FZ-1 this way, but it was later released in a longbox outer package - seek this out.
Easter eggs: "The Ballad of Crash 'n Burn," a semi-coherent story about the making of the game, is written along the left side of Track #4 in the Deathdrome Circuit.
Release date (MM/DD/YYYY): 10/01/93

Santulli Slant: I was one of those people that history laughs at. One of those people who bought a 3DO on launch day. Yeah, that's right, laugh it up, get it out of your system. As a result I played lots of Crash 'n Burn, the Panasonic FZ-1 pack-in. I crashed and burned a lot as I waited for some new games to come out. Then Mad Dog McCree came out, playable with the flawed 4-directional joypad and I found myself crashing and burning all over again. A fine futuristic game that seems better when it's the only game on the system, eclipsed by far better titles of its ilk, notably those from the Wipeout and F-Zero series. Periodical's review: Electronic Gaming Monthly gave this game a 8, 7, 7, and 7 (out of 10).
