Santulli Slant: Activision could have really scored in the arcades if they put out high-end versions of games like River Raid. It is quite possibly the first vertical shooter with true interactive backgrounds. Look at more recent vertical shooters like Raiden, then look at River Raid, and I think you’ll find.... that they’re completely different and that River Raid sucks by comparison.
