Description: This game was at one time a pack-in game (along with Duck Hunt) with the NES console. Technically speaking, Gyromite "requires" the ROB to play, but the game is oodles easier if you trash the ROB and just press the buttons on controller 2 yourself. Far more valuable with the box and game pieces. The original Nintendo console released in Japan (called "Famicom" over there) used a different type of cartridge than the Nintendo Entertainment System we're all familiar with over here. Specifically, they changed the pin setup from 60 to 72 pins. This creates a problem if you want to play Japanese games on a NES. However, due to an overrun of the two ROB. games in Japan, Nintendo ended up selling both games in the US with an internal adapter. The game itself looks perfectly normal on the outside, but inside are the electronics from the Japanese version plugged into an adapter! Only the early editions have these adapters. VARIANTS: 3 and 5 screw variants available. The 3 screw version is rarer.
Landmark: This was a launch title in the US. One of 30 original "black box" games.
