Has anyone ever seen this game cabinet before? Better yet, does anyone have a picture of the artwork? It is basically non-existant on the internet.

I don't think too many of them left Japan. I have only played the game in MAME. Here's a Japanese flyer - http://arcadeflyers.net/?page=flyerd...thumbs&id=4131
I have a japanese cocktail conversion kit for Super Pac-Man. As far as I know about this game is that Namco was having a falling out with Bally/Midway with licensing with other games they released on behalf of Namco (Pac-Man, Mappy, Galaga, etc). There was a law suit over Ms. Pac-Man as it was not an official Pac-Man game released by Namco (neither was Pac-Man Plus, Baby Pac, Jr Pac, and Professor Pac). The true official sequel released by Namco was Super Pac. When Namco was having the falling out with Bally/Midway, Namco decided to allow Atari to distribute Pac & Pal to the states while they work things out. I have only seen one Pac & Pal game on location from back in the day. Here are some pics of my kit.

Wow that is amazing shertz. I didn't actually think I would get a response. I am used to getting dead ends. Do you remember what that machine looked like 'back in the day'? My goal is to make a dedicated Pac & Pal machine. (I have a thing for obscurity). Would you be willing to scan your instructions? I have the technical means to mod a super pac board. Thanks for posting those pics.

p.s. - if you ever want to get rid of your coversion kit, let me know!
I'm a huge fan of this game, shertz' post goes a long way toward confirming my suspicions that it was only a conversion kit and was never released in a dedicated version. Even the official flyers don't illustrate a cab.Originally Posted by dr soggy

Hi,
I will make scans of the instruction cards when I finally get my scanner hooked up. PM me if anyone is interested. And the cab I saw back in the day was a some table top conversion. I know a guy who has an NOS marquee for an upright, but he dissapeared x_x

Welcome to Digital Press -- no matter how obscure of an item you bring up in conversation, you can bet somebody here has one in their attic.Originally Posted by dr soggy

I believe Pac & Pal is a ROM swap conversion kit for Super Pac. And a gem to find. And, I echo that it's a sweet, sweet game.

btw, that was the pac & pal arcade flyer I posted.
I forgot to throw this out earlier, but: there's an alternate version called "Pac-Man & Chomp Chomp" that replaces Pal with Chomp Chomp from the Hanna Barbera Pac-Man animated series. It's possible that Pal was swapped out with Chomp Chomp for a US release, but Pac-Land wasn't too far behind so it got lost in the shuffle.
