Jaguar vs 3DO anyone?
Jaguar vs 3DO anyone?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
I was going to go with the 3DO because of the large library of games including some classics like Road Rash and StarControl II. But then I thought about some of my favorite Jag games that I also have for the 3DO and the Jag versions are much better.
I'm talking about Doom, Dragon's Lair, and Wolf3D. And nothing on the 3DO compares to Tempest 2000.
I'll also be going for the Jag due to Tempest 2000.
I'm gonna say 3DO for the following reasons,
Killing Time (One of my all time fav's)
Wing Commander III (better than the PS ver.)
AD&D Slayer
Samurai Showdown (for all of us poor people who can't afford the Geo
And yes games like Gex, Road Rash, PO'ed, Spacehulk, all these came out on the PS and SAT, but where did they come out on first?
And yes, DOOM on the the 3DO sux we all know this
Ummm...
Gotta go 3DO.
Road Rash was amazing the first time I saw it. I had never played anything that looked that good and moved that fast. The CD player featured a psychedelic display when you popped in a music disc. Dragon's Lair was beautiful, as was Strahl. I own both and I have to go with the 3DO hands down.
The only person that could love the Jag is a die-hard Atari fan. The 3DO, however, has a few gems: Star Control 2 is the best version of that game on any system, The Horde is a great comical game, Return Fire has great multiplayer, and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is a great fighting game.
The JagCD's built-in VLM beats the 3DO's CD display, IMO. Jag for me.Originally Posted by Jestr

Although I did enjoy Wolfenstein and Doom on the Jag, I have to easily go with the 3DO. Not only for the games listed in the previous posts but also underrated gems like The Horde, Twisted, Snowjob, Night Trap (I know, I know it was on the Sega CD but this is the best version of it) and, above all else, it had the first console version of Policenauts
Even if the only game published on the 3DO was Star Control 2, I would still say 3DO. Tempest 2k is great and AvP is really spiffy, but honestly Star Control 2 made me a into a game collector. That type of impact cannot be understated.
That being said, there are plenty of other great games for the 3DO, most of which have been mentioned above.
The Jag's the only one of the two I've got.
I'd probably go with the 3DO if I had both though, since it has a larger library.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
Umm, the 3DO was more money ($600 vs. $699) than the Neo-Geo.Originally Posted by ghostangelofcky

I had to go with the 3DO although I really dont like either one very much. I do play the 3DO for Samurai Showdown and Street fighter II (both are amazing titles) and Ill occasionally play Tempest 2000 (simply put, an amazing title) as well. Other than that most of that games to be found on both the systems are pure crap. A-vs-P on the Jag? PURE CRAP! I keep reading about how awesome this game is just to finally buy a copy and fins out it sucks! The game looks so bad its almost unplayable. To me both systems were complete failures but the Jaguar was a stillborn.
Take a hike, wang-broom!
I swear I can smell your stinky hands from here!
well,i have both systems(ive had the jag since it first came out)and while like both systems,i gotta go with the 3do.the 3do had a better game selection then jaguar.plus,i think that most games on the 3do are more fun then most games on the jag.other then alien vs predator, raiden, pinball fantasies(dont laugh),and a few other games on the jag, nothing else was very good.
do not buy/get system repair from martin krohn aka iamnotageek.com
3DO's my baby. I love the horribly underrated system. It feratured tons of enjoyable games, many of which have already been stated. By the way Wolf 3d on the jag Isn't nearly as good as Wolfenstien 3DO IMO. Sure the 3DO had a lot of FMV games, but damn in nthey were good FMV games.
D it's was short, but damn if it ain't sweet. The American Laser Games light gun games were all really fun, cheesy as hell and poorly synced, but fun none the lest. Alone in the Dark and Alone in the Dark 2 were equally as good as there PSX Cousins and so was the 3DO verision of Road & Track presents: The Need for Speed.
The 3DO also featured the Classic Battle Chess, Road Rash (infiently better then the Sega CD version) and MYST.
The 3DO was a good system, it just came out at the wrong time, for the wrong price.
I love my 3DO.

I went with Jaguar, purely because its a cart-based console, and I'd take carts over discs any day.
The 3D0 is a nice little console though... however its never been quite my thing.
Really? And just how many 3DO games have you played? Every played Blade Force? Need for Speed? Captain Quazar? Battlesport? Road Rash? Star Control 2? Escape from Monster Manor? Cannon Fodder? Slam n Jam? Return Fire?Originally Posted by smokehouse
Seriously... how can you compare the 3DO library over that of the Jaguar? The Jaguar does have a couple of great games, several good ones, and a whole bunch of shit. The 3DO has it's fair share of shit as well, but it easily has more truly good and great games than the Jaguar.
I do love that big-ass Jaguar controller, though. Beats the crap out of the lame 3DO pad any day.
Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~
