My favorite is the jaguar, blasphemy I know but I remember salivating over its release the 2600 was unremarcable to me by the time I got into videogames. Unfortunately it never really found itself in the short life cycle; at least Songbird and others are keepin' it alive

Jaguar for sure! Just because it didn't start reaching it's full potential until after it died is no reason to hold that against it. None of the other systems could do Tempest the way the Jag did, and that game wasn't even pushing the system's limits. If the Jag had been given more time to flourish, then even the most recent Jag games would look pathetic by comparison now. Just look at the last N64 games compared to the first N64 games. The Jag was never allowed to fully hit it's stride like that, but if it had been, WHOA! Jeff Minter was only teasing us before. He could make the Jag really purr.

The 2600 is the best, objectively speaking, but I voted for the 7800 as it's my personal favourite.

Though not pure gaming systems, you should have included the computer systems. I vote 7800 because of the backwards compatibility, but Lynx is a close second.

I made a slight modification to your poll.

Since the 2800 IS the 2600, I removed it - actually replaced it with the Atari XE/8-bit computer option (even if you were leaving out computers, the 8-bit line has lots of cartridges, more than most Atari consoles, in fact).

For the record, I chose 2600. Sure, the 7800 is backwards-compatible but I love the style and feel of the 2600 and its simple controller.

XL/XE all the way. Not as many carts as the 2600, but by far the largest available library if you count disk & tape games. And you can program your own fairly easily. Uses the same great controllers as the 2600, too.

Ah. I was going to comment on the fact that the XE/8-bit only got 1 vote, but that might explain it. For me it's a close second after the 2600.

7800 just becouse of the bacwards capabilities. If it wasnt for that the VCS would win.

I voted Lynx - it's like a portable 7800, but easier to play.

If I owned a 2600 (someday...), I'd probably lean that way.
Active systems owned: Wii, X360, PS3
Inactive systems owned: RCA, INTV2, NES, SMS, Genesis, Lynx, SNES, Saturn, PS1, GBC, DC, PS2, GBA, Xbox, GC, PSP, DS
Systems wanted: Coleco, 7800, TG16, GG, 3DS, Vita, WiiU

Damn I found out that there is another Atari comming out,

It plays 2600 AND 7800 games if I had found this out sooner I would have put it on the polls!

also this is possibly the 1st poll of some in the neer future because there are nintendo systems, handhelds, segas, and others but the next one will come out later this month !!!!!
