Default Ques for owners of Launch Day PS2s who have network adapters

Is there any compatibility issues with the network adaptor (namely the software) and launch model ps2s? I have NEVER EVER had one single disc not read in my PS2, EVER!! Even really scratched discs read fine. Now i've tradded for a network adapter (with start-up software) and my ps2 seems to be trying to read the disc but keeps returning to the ps2 start-up screen. It has done the initial identification and knows that its a "Playstation 2 DISC", but every time i highlight the disc and press x it starts to load but returns to the previous screen . A little help please, thanks.

My PS2 isnt a "Launch Day" but it is a first run system, and ive got the NA plugged into it and its run just fine. I got my NA on the NA launch day so...

It sounds like your DvD-rom might have died... When it sees the disc but never loads it, it tends to be kaput... Do you have any other silver back discs to try and play????

Try playing a blue back game, one for online that you can try would be Tribes: Aerial Assault and if it works online just fine, then you know that its not the NA causin trouble.... (and kill 2 birds with one stone, the fact that the CD-rom is working and that the NA isnt causing some sort of error)

My guess is that IF you all of a sudden cant play ANY Silver (DVD) games that the DVD has died and well, you could try calling Sony to replace it, telling them that you are having DRE issues and they usually replace the system, minus the shipping to them, that you have to foot (which isnt that expensive).

When you attached the NA, did you really screw it in tight??? Cause if you did, you did a really big nono. The system doesnt like it, because you can strip out the screw holes as well as cause connection issues in the Port where the system is linked into the NA itself.

All my ps1 and ps2 discs read fine, just not the NA software disc. That's why i thought it might be a compatibility issue.

I've have a Launch system and NA and haven't had any problems.

Do you have friends near-by that you can test out the disc in their system? It could be just a bad disc.

edit: I found an instruction manual floating around at work that said Network V.2 disc or something. I'm not sure what it came from, since it was in the middle of the floor, and we don't keep the NA on the sales-floor. Maybe if it's a newer disc that would explain a potential problem with yours and not mine?

I would just try and get another setup disc. As suggested, borrow one from a friend if you can or just call Sony. I bought my adapter secondhand and called Sony for a disc, which they sent gratis and within one week of my call.
