Default Atari 2600 Featured In Games tm Magazine

The June issue of Games tm (#7), which is now available in the United States, features the 2600 in its Retro section. They feature what they call the six best games for the system:
    1) Sky Skipper
    2) Pole Position
    3) Battlezone
    4) Pitfall
    5) Mario Bros
    6) COMBAT

The write-up for Combat clearly shows that the author doesn't know anything about the game:

    "Year: 1978
Also known as Tank Plus, Combat came packaged with the 2600 and featured a massive 27 games all based around a combat theme. Much like Mario Party or Super Monkey Ball, the game offered enough single-player mode, though it was the multiplayer option that really added to the overall longevity.

Space Invaders, on the other hand (which was available at the same time), initally attracted people to the machine, though many gamers found that it samey far too quickly. Not a problem for Combat..."

I can't figure out if this review is a joke or not.

Is the whole magazine full of ignorant remarks or just that one article?

    Sky Skipper?

Have past issues had similar articles?

    Sky Skipper?
    Chronogamer. Every game. Chronologically.

You know, Games used to cover video games on a regular basis, but they kind of stopped shortly after the Genesis was released. Then they went back to concentrating on the boring kinds of games... you know, the crossword puzzles and such.
I wish I had some of the older issues... my high school had 'em back when I was a senior, but that was ten years ago and they may have since thrown them out. It was really freaking cool to read about systems like the Vectrex from the perspective of a gamer who had just played them.

This isn't the same Games magazine that you're thinking of. Gamestm (the tm is for trademark) is a British videogame mag that's been out since the beginning of this year..

I hope, deep down in my heart, that the author of that article had his tongue planted firmly in-cheek when writing that list and the subsequent descriptions... however, this is a british gaming magazine, so somehow I doubt it.

    Maybe if it was Edge...
