Ack! Your list does not have one of the best games of all time!
I will give you a hint. He looks like the dead guy to the left.
Ooh! That reminds me, I had made a plea for Venture to be added a while back!
Fantastic music, great characters, and a port of the coin-op that actually (subtly) improves upon the original.
Let's add Venture and drop... maybe Pac-Man, since great versions of it are on so many other platforms.
I'd also love to see Looping on the list, but acknowledge that I'd never convince anyone to drop another title that's already there

I would replace Time Pilot with Lord of the Dungeon.
i agree with Venture....That is a damn good game. but i dont think pac man should be taken out... personally, ive always thought time pilot was weak- but i dont really like star fortress either.
time pilot is definetely my least favorite on that list though.

@Willie - I agree that Time Pilot's very weak - it's just not up to snuff, graphically or playwise, with the other fine ColecoVision ports. I definitely support dumping Time Pilot from the list.

OK, now that I can talk in more than one syllable, I would really like to see Jumpman Jr. added to that list. Some suggestions as to what I would remove:
Donkey Kong Jr.
Tarzan
Time Pilot
Turbo
Well I don't expect too many people would support adding Lord of the Dungeon, but seems Venture and Jumpman Jr are good additions, so how does this proposal sound:
DROP: Time Pilot and Pac-Man
ADD: Venture and Jumpman Jr.
Yes? I'd second this motion.
I'll second that e-motion! (E for electronic!)

Hi everyone
Finally registered with DP today, and I couldn't resist joining in this little debate ...
I think it's a great list with just a couple of exceptions.
I think that Frogger and Q*Bert certainly belong on a Colecovision Top 20 list. They are probably the best conversions of these 2 arcade classics on any classic era console. To fit them in, I would take out Tarzan and Turbo, neither of those games does much for me.
Also, while I love both Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr, I would personally prefer the original to be on the list, as this was THE game that helped the Colecovision make a big impact when it was launched. I, like a lot of other people, was amazed at how good a console game could be when I first saw it. It was such a big advance over 2600 games when it came out.
Cheers
Jon
The list is looking much better now, IMO though I would also agree with flicky here.
i simply cannot agree with dropping pac man in favor of jumpman junior.
colecovision pacman is one of the best versions outside of the arcade machine.
i would be fighting joust if it had sound... even without sound that game is a definite contender. ill just keep my one complaint at pacman for now though.

CBS Victory!
I'm not quite sure what it would replace, though. Mr. Do! does feel like a rather rushed game, I suppose.

Nobody likes Mousetrap? This game should most definitely be on the list. I love that dog bark
I would add Frogger and Matt Patrol and drop Dig-Dug and Mr Do!. Both Frogger and Matt Patrol are outstanding achievements. It's a shame the real Moon Patrol port isn't available... yet...

Take out Star Fortress and add in Space Invaders Collection... it's a much smoother, more accurate arcade translation.
Also, I'd swap out Dig Dug (which was kinda flickery and ugly) and replace it with one of Atarisoft's other games, perhaps Joust, Pac-Man, Moon Patrol, or Galaxian. What the heck, put 'em all in and give the old heave ho to Donkey Kong Jr., Mr. Do!, Venture, and Jumpman Jr.

Yeah, Mousetrap should be there. It makes very good use of the number keypad, and is a really, really nice port of the arcade game.Originally Posted by zektor
Not a knock at KevTris at all, but maybe it should be bumped in favor of Mousetrap? Mousetrap just takes better advantage of the CV's capabilities.
Venture needs to stay put.

hello....wargames anyone?
thats a great game not derived from an arcade title, a true coleco creation not on anyother system. it belongs on the list, just for being so different and addicting.

Ooh, Wargames... good call.

I would still argue for Lord of the Dungeon. Aside from the fact that it is a really good game, you cannot possibly play it and not consider what "might have been."
In those days, video console RPGs had to be designed in such a way that they could be completed in no more than a few hours. This meant that the level of complexity had to be, by necessity, severely limited. There was no way you were ever going to get a game as complex as Ultima or Wizardry on any home video system. As a result, this was an area in which computers clearly dominated; videogame systems couldn't possibly match them.
But Lord of the Dungeon, had it been widely released, would've changed that in 1983. This was the first game you could switch off, and then pick up where you left off at some future time. As a result, the level of complexity could be far greater, as the normal time limit no longer applied. The one big advantage computer RPGs had was no more. It's not like 16K vs. 48K, as this was something completely new in home videogaming.
As it was, Lord of the Dungeon actually plays like a simplified Wizardry. No locked doors or treasure chests, no little traps, no alignments (although there may well be a final purpose!)... But this was a first-time effort. It does just what it is supposed to do. Now, this game would've flown off of the shelves faster than the NES Double Dragon or Super Mario Bros. 3. This would've meant a sequel of some sort. A more complex sequel, maybe even Questron or Ultima 1, 2, or 3? It may well have saved American videogaming.
