    Default Game WITHIN a Game

After playing the original NES Excitebike in the Nintendo 64 version of the game, I was just wondering what other newer games out there (PSX,DC,N64,GCN,PS2,XBOX,GBA) contain versions of older games? I did some searching but I really cannot find a list for this type of thing anywhere. I hear Metroid Prime has the original NES Metroid in it. This true? Either way, list the ones you know of here!

If you allow for adaptations of classic games in addition to emulations, there are plenty. Off the top, I can think of:

    Spacewar (Way of the Warrior)
    Warlords (Lunar: SSSC)
Vector-graphic versions of Lunar Lander, Snake, one other that escapes my mind (TimeSplitters 2)
    Metroid (Metroid Prime)
    Sinistar (Tyrants for Genesis)

yeah it's true. you need metroid fusion, prime and the link cable. when you beat fusion link up the games and you can play the original. you can also save your progress on the cube memory card.

as for another game...the remake of sonic dx for cube will have all of the sonic games previously released on game gear on it. pretty sweet deal.

Shenmue..for the DC has some Sega games in it that can be played when you walk to the Arcade in the game..

I'm pretty sure the PS version of Pitfall has the original Activision Atari 2600 version in it..

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure was one of the first games to do this. It had a playable version of 2600 Pitfall hidden somewhere.

Xevious 3D/G includes three classic versions of Xevious on the disc. They remind me why I don't like Xevious.

I don't own DK64 (yet). Is getting to the game easily accessible? Or do you have to beat the game first or something?

On another note, Way of the Warrior (3dO) had Spacewar in it? Whoa, I had this system and game a long longf time ago and don't remember that. Maybe I should ask that not only everybody list the games they know that have older titles built in, but HOW to access them! All of this is great information however! Thanks guys for the input!

DK 64 has some other game on it that I can't think of for some damn reason. It's an old Rare coin op

Wario Inc or whatever is going to have the FIVE SECOND NES GAMES OF DOOM!!! in it... lots of them from the sound of it.

I wish more games did this. Seems to me it would be easy, as the hard part (making the game) is already done, and it makes you spend that much more time actually playing the game.

Dahne gave up on Shenmue after spending far too much time wandering around lost.

I actually think it should be done, or thought of to be done, more often. Like Dahne said, the hard part of programming it is done, all you gotta do is put the orginial title in the game accessable somewhere. It's also a good homage and salute to the old school players who kept with a serie sor company over the years.

    Default Mini games

There's a soon to be released game that has Centipede as a mini game between levels.

The only thing that I can think that's stopping them is maybe the royalties that they might have to pay to the original programmers. But, haven't a lot of these games come out on the GBA, those Classic Collections anyway? I think it's a nice bonus Easter Egg, but it's not going to make me buy a game anymore.

The only other one that I can think of is Panzer Dragoon Orta which has the original Panzer Dragoon in it.

@Zektor...as I recal getting DK in DK64 is kind of a pain. Well, you have to actually play DK64 and I'd rather have dental work than play that sprawling mess :P But I think you have to get to the point where you find it in the game, which takes some time, then you have to get to the 4th screen on one credit to unlock it. I think that's right.

Or you could do what I did and buy a used copy where someone has already unlocked it.

Pong is the loading screen for Test Drive on the PS2 and X-box. And you can play it as long as you want.

Didn't Ridge Racer have a older game in it? What was that?
I am in fact the guy that made the Raisins prototype worth thousands less by dumping it. "D'oh!!"
