I was curious, did this game actually get released as this title on the Sega Genesis?
There's some evidence to suggest that it did (or at least in very small quantities). Of course it might exist in proto form. Can anyone help pls? |

Originally called Tongue of the Fatman, and then changed to Mondu's Fight Palace, and then finally changed again to Slaughter Sport. Also Activision was to be the licensee but then that changed to Razor Soft. Most of the evidence you speak of involves early magazine advertisements and previews which discussed the games upcoming release over and over again. So I know what your referencing. In fact, those ads ran by SEGA themselves announcing the first 17 third party licensees featured CURSE, a side scrolling shooter which I also kept looking for over and over at the game stores and never understood why I could never find it because it too was practically released and even reviewed as such by the magazine! As far as wether or not an original earlier working title version proto of the game exists, sure, it probably is out there somewhere. But at least it eventually was released. I also know what you mean by "maybe" it is out there as a released item, under extremely limited quantities and then pulled of shelves. Super Volley Ball comes to mind, also part of those 17 games / companies mentioned in the advertisement, but finding the original video system release versus the sega re-release is tough. Question is, is it as tough as finding Loch Jaw versus Shark Attack...??? I doubt that! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Supergun,
I managed to get in touch with the guy who wrote the manual for MFP. He has scans of it on his site, also sent me the original word doc for it. He is quite sure it was released so maybe it is a very limited release? That would be interesting. I'm guessing at worst, Activision had several copies printed (maybe low double figures at most) then pulled the plug. Then Razorsoft picked it up some time after?? If anyone does have a copy I'd be interested in buying it if they'd sell, but seeing a scan of the game would be enough. |

This is a title screen change and legal change at the very least.

Wow, that sucks. I really don't understand the flagging of these auctions.
This seller has a TON of Genesis prototypes. Way more than he's listed (and I mean WAY more). Now he might be not be willing to sell now that his auctions have been pulled. If someone that isn't interested in prototypes flagged it, that's pretty lame. If someone that is interested in prototypes flagged it, that's pretty stupid. I just don't get it. |

Yeah, very sad. I would've liked to see what was for sale.

Yeah,
I had my eye on the MFP proto but $500 was a bit out of my range at the time. I wonder if he just had a private buyer? btw guy who owns the manual also did the artwork for it. Here's a link to his site: http://www.steveenglehart.com/Games/...%20Palace.html |

It's a bit complicated, but there was no buyer and the seller no longer has the proto. I've been talking to Gabe for a while now, some things changed and he no longer is in possession of the protos he listed.

He didn't specifically say if I could share this stuff or not.
It consists of text docs mainly anyway. the scans are for all to see on his site. I don't want to just go ahead and just start chucking this stuff around though so I would still contact the owner just to be curtious |
