Default Dumpster Diving

It was just before dawn, six in the morning or so. Speeding along US interstate 15, south from Salt Lake City, Utah on the way to southern California, at roughly 100-105 miles per hours; on a head full of bogus Cocaine; gut full of pharmaceutical pain-killers; and a pipe full of strong Marijuana. The red ZX2 weaved in and out of traffic, between big-rigs gracefully, ever so often losing traction and the ass-end would almost gracefully slide sideways with the roar of the engine, and screaching rubber that was loud, and sounded crazy like beer bottles being crushed in a garbage compactor.

Somewhere roughly in central Nevada the gas light turned out, and the bolt-cutters would be no use, becuase there were no houses, garages, or sheds to cut the lock off and use the gas that always awaited inside for miles, and the sun had come up now. Another fifteen miles or so down the road we reached a travel plaza and found a gas station. Which was across the street from a mini-strip-mall, or plaza. In the plaza was a Blockbuster Video and an EB Games.

Just minutes later I'm lifting the lid of the EB Games dumpster to peak inside, and to find a Viva Pinata cut-out. Then in the Blockbuster dumpster nearly 100 empty PS2 case. We loaded up the trunk with the "hot" goods and continued on the way to San Diego, California.

I know its not a good story, and it was just a fluke that I decided to check out the dumpsters. But it was the only thing I could think of to put in the "lore" page.

New approach. I like it.

I remember seeing a clear garbage bag full of SNES boxes behind my local video store, years ago, and wondering if I should snatch them up.

Your such a role model.

Pretty good story though. I've done a bit of stuff like this, but nothing I found was ever video game related...

I found mario kart (snes) that way. Just a bit of cleaning and it works like a dream.

You can find the best stuff in dumpsters (working nintendos around here even).

That's the sort of thing Hunter S. Thompson would be writing about if he were alive today ... and into video games ...

... you should pick up his spiritual mantle of stream of consciousness road-stories and make it video-game centric ... something like

"Fear and LOADING (Please Wait)"
