Well, how about meeting up at GxC sometime? Or the Bessemer Flea Market? Sat Afternoons or Sunday mornings are the best for me.

im available on weekends as well. not this coming weekend, but the next weekend ill have some money, so id be up too itbut whenever is good.
well gamexchange is closed down in trussville now, any of you guys know what happened to it? or where it moved too? now i dont know whereabouts to keep collecting.
I am good friends with the previous manager of Game Xchange. It was sold and is probably going to be moved. So now we have almost nowhere except Replays to get decent old school stuff now.

Radiant, please keep me posted and let me know if gamexchange shows up somewhere. you said it might be moved, just let me know. i appreciate it.
The Replays in Pelham has also closed. It was a decent store. I found several good games in there over the years. They still have locations in Hueytown and up in Robuck. It is hard to find games in the Birmingham area. Bessemer flea mkt used to be good but I haven't found anything decent there in a while. I mostly have to go to places like Atlanta or Nashville now. Atlanta has had several game stores close over the past couple of years so it is harder to find good games there.
BTW the owner of the Game X Change sold his inventory to someone out of state so it won't reopen anywhere around here.
Well, guys... You gotta start checking goodwills, thrift stores, pawn shops.... We don't have specialty stores much anymore, but we do have one good thing on our side. Most people in Alabama don't know what they have.

thats true, but i guess i just have really bad luck or something because every goodwill, thrift store, pawn shop i go to there is nothing there. i still go to the replay's store in roebuck, but it never really has anything decent and most of there stuff is over priced, besides genesis games.
the best place that i have found to find games is in austin, texas. they have quite a few good stores there. nothing around here.
i wish i knew the owner of the game x change better before he sold his stuff, i would have liked to seen what all he had once more before it shut down.
Hi there,
I went to school at JSU and originally lived in Birmingham. I visit B'ham often since my parents still live there. I'll send you guys a PM the next time I plan to be in town and see if we could meet up.
Take care,
Dennis
Well, if you ever come to the Jacksonville area, I'll most likely be here.

Attention Alabama collectors. At the Zone 1 in Chelsea, they have the following
2x Star Ocean Second Story
Hosigami Running Blue Earth
Breath of Fire III
Breath of Fire IV

Go now.

Well guys, since there are only like 5 of us in the entire state, I thought I would let you guys know whats left store-wise.
Another Replays closed.
Zone-1 in Chelsea and Helena have good selections from time to time. The popular stuff is expensive, but Mattdog found a NES test cart there for $4.99. It varies.
Replays in Gadsen has good boxed NES games.
Replays in Anniston is the hub for Replays chain to do their online store. They have incredible stuff in the back, you have to ask for it. If the right guy is working, you can get a great deal.
K-marts all over the place have dirt-cheap GBA and DS games. Just because the price tag says 19.99, doesn't mean its 19.99. The older and more run-down the K-mart looks, the better.
Most of the flea markets in the state have been tapped dry. What is left is far overpriced. However I hear the bessemer flea market can have some decent stuff.
Some of the Books-a-millions in the state still have new PSX strat guides. FF7 and FF8 I've both seen.
Unfortunately it is slowly but surely getting to the point where we are all going to have to go out of the state to find games. That day is coming soon, but with the time we still have, we should get as much as we can.
Its really a shame, I was hoping to meet most of you at one time or the other. But, we don't have any stores left to us.

Is anyone still up for meeting up somewhere? I have loads of stuff to trade / sell. I think there is about 4 or 5 of us in the Birmingham area now that post here and I know a few collectors who troll here that would come as well.
I think weekends would be best, but I could come just about any time.
Thanks Radiant - I'll have to check out Books-a-million for PSX strat guides - never thought to do that.
Last time I drove by the Replays in Roebuck/Centerpoint it looked like it may have closed. But it does look like the day we have to go out of state to find games is coming.
Hey everyone. I've been lurking around for a little over a year. Just want to introduce myself since I finally made an account.
I moved out of state last year, and came back about a week ago. It's sad to read that so many places have closed.
Bump from the dead!
I live near Montgomery, and I am pretty active in the arcade scene. We hold regular gatherings in Prattville. The latest being on Oct 4th.

I'm in Chelsea. (You already know that though, Radiant.)
A meet-up time somewhere would be fun. The pickings are getting small around here, and I think trading would be better. My last really good find was a sealed copy of Link's Awakening at the stand-alone Sears in Birmingham. This was a few months ago, as some of you may remember.
Besides game shops, there is also the Cash World pawn shop on 280 across from the Wal-Mart. The owners there are really nice, and they don't abide by eBay prices.
Check it out sometime!![]()

Life is great; Without it, you'd be dead.
You should try the Pawn shops around Keesler AFB if you go to Biloxi. With all the people who PCS through there ALL the time, there's bound to be a ton of cheap games, even if most will be newer. New recruits are notorious for screwing up their finances and having to bail themselves out somehow....

Some of you guys missed out!
