Year of Game FRIENDLY COMPETITION THREAD

How about a generic game just about everyone owns and can be played on the console rather than emulated. For high scores a picture should be taken of the TV/monitor (for those using RGB/VGA/DVI) for legitimacy. Also if there's a difficulty setting for the game, maybe different levels could be distributed to seperate experts from newbies.

Some suggestions:
R-Type
Darius
Super Mario Kart
Tetris
PuyoPuyo

Ideas on how you're ranked:
Side-scrollers: Points and difficulty
Puzzles: Level reached and points
Racing: Lap times

Ridge Racer (PSX)
Tetris (Gameboy)
Tony Hawk (any of them)
and thats just a few I am sure I will think of more

Curses! Internet was out yesterday. I'm back, though.

So far it sounds like there will be at least one shooter; Megamania, and Tetris (some version or other) seem to be pulling down votes also...

I haven't determined whether we should just have a second choice, or perhaps have a period of time when everybody's first choice is being competed on (in case you didn't like the other choices)...either would be fine by me.

Maybe I'll catch your post tomorrow at work. Any games chosen though should have a rarity of 1-3 so it's more likely people own it.

MAME or consoles, gang? I don't have all these games, and if folks are stuck with emulators, that might not all work out well. But we'll see. You don't have to play every game.

I do not know the difference of equality, but if needed, have 2 scoreboards. 1 for console, and1 for emulator, but only in the case that one version offers a difference in challenge, as compared to the other. Lets try to include everyone in this friendly competition.
