Both are Defender derivatives. Could someone tell me which one would likely be better?

I'm not familiar with Protector, but I have played quite a bit of Datastorm in the past. It's a very solid take on Defender, and the sheer number of enemies can be overwhelming. My only real gripe about it was the game speeds. The "regular" setting was a bit too slow in the early rounds, while the "fast" setting was way too quick and made controlling your ship next to impossible...Great game regardless.
