Default anyone have info on the wii LAN connector

I got a wii for x-mas and noticed there were no ethernet ports on the console (I don't have wireless) so i have yet to go online with it. On the nintendo website they mention something about a wii LAN connector that will make people with wired routers to go online with them. Does anybody know when these are supposed to come out or any other info about them.

I know nothing about the LAN dongle of which you speak(other than it's intended use), but a wireless router can be had for $30-$50, allowing both wired and wireless intarweb at the same time.

I recommend going that route. Perhaps my situation was unique, but it was pretty much plug-and-play to get my DS, PSP, and Wii online with it, along with the traditionally wired PCs.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

It's out in japan, and kinda looks like the cube BBAs, on a wire.

I'm going to get one, as my wii is right next to a switch anyway, and the wireless internet going around this house is just another part of the 2.4ghz interference. I've got a wireless guitar hero controller that's 2.4ghz, it's REAL FUN doing well on a song and then suddenly failing do to the thing losing signal from interferece. My wii locks up constantly when using the internet channel, presumably from the wireless dying for a second or again, interference.

    So yeah wired for me.

this is the only information I have been able to find on connecting the wii online. My situation is that a wired router is located on the floor below me and wires have been run through the wall in order for me to go online with my 360 and PS3. I'm just wondering if I will be able to use this lan connector without having to run more wires through the wall (because I don't want to do that much work just to go online with another system.) All I have is an ethernet cable comming out of my floor, and I connect that cable to whichever system I decide I want to go online with. If I connected a wireless router to the end of that ethernet cable will I be able to do the wii connect 24 or would I have to set it up with a computer. All I'm basically looking to do is plug and play right now without having to make more investments (i think having ps3, wii, and 360 with a bunch of games is as much as i wanna invest right now).

Yes you will. You simply just plug the wire from your wall into that adapter. Just like you would with the xbox360 and ps3.

why not buy the nintendo wi-fi adapter?

Yeah, the wi-fi adapter works great! I would seriously question the security of using it, though, so if you use it make sure to use Wii point cards and do not use a credit card number on the VC. One good feature is that even though it's not WEP, you must manually allow the connections on your computer so no one next door can jump onto your wifi access point like can happen on other adapters without password protection.
