    Default Game Collecting in Houston

Where are some decent places to find games? I have a couple places near my house, but I was wondering if there are any other good places around town - in case I ever find myself in that area.

There was a thread on this about four months ago: Game stores. In Houston. Check it out here:

Aside from pawn shops or Trader's village?

Zippo. I've had luck here and there, but YMMV. Funny, all three of us posted in that other thread too.

The shop I mentioned in the bottom of the other thread is now closed (at Northwest Mall), now it's a shitty t-shirt shop.

The current best place for retro gaming is at my buddy's house -- I'm back in the country for a few weeks visiting friends and family and we've had nothing but a Neo CD, Dreamcast, Saturn, JAMMA, and MVS fest since i've been back. Should get better when his new Astro City cab gets in this week! Not quite what you're looking for, though... (but it's great for me)

There is an independant game store in Katy Mills mall, too, and they have some retro stuff. Their prices are pretty laughable, though, which is sad as I'd like to support an independant store. Houston cries out for a great game store!!!!!

Believe it or not, I've been faring pretty well at places like WalMart and Target for GBA games lately. I know the GBA still isn't retro yet, but I've been finding some very hard to find GBA games at those places for very reasonable prices. It seems that they've been cleaning out all their game cases recently, and all the games that have been buried where no one could even see them for several years are now out on the shelves with clearance stickers on them.

Yeah, there's nothing around here other than flea markets. The independent mall store was called something like GameTraderz. The last one I saw was in Memorial City Mall, but I think they got forced out during the remodel (too cheap looking for their new image). You can find a few shops at Trader's Village (Eldridge Rd. south of 290), Houston Flea Market (59 at Westpark), or Cole's Flea Market (Telephone Rd. south of Beltway 8). Sometimes you can find a good booth or two in the "markets" inside the old K-Mart stores. You do have to wade through the knock-off clothes, mexican CD's, and car stereo shops to find the good stuff in between.
