I have probably played through Super Metroid more times then any other game I can think of. I'd almost say it's my favorite game ever. One of the main reasons I've played through it so much is because I'm obsessed with doing speed runs. My best speed run is completing the game in 1 hour and 5 minutes with 100%. My ultimate goal is to beat the game at 100% in UNDER an hour...even if it's 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

Yeah...I absolutely loathed the "mentor/love interest" (??) thing in Fusion. Aside from that it wasn't such a bad game...but....

I just watched the 36 minute speed run video. That was the most awesome performance i have ever seen! He was bouncing off of everything flawlessly. Floating and hovering everywhere, my mouth was wide open through all four parts. On a side note, what was going on in the fight with Mother Brain's? Everything was glitching, and Samus was vanished? Very Very weird stuff.

That's a glitch people call the "Murder Beam". You can kill Mother Brain faster with it (and I think it works on some other bosses too...I forget). I never use it myself...cause I read somewhere if you do it wrong, you risk the chance of corrupting your saved data. Plus, I'd rather not use a "glitch" to help get a good time. Although, I guess the Mockball technique where you move faster in ball form if you morph right after a running jump, is considered a glitch...and I definitley use that one.

I used to play this game a fair bit back in the day. I found it so impressive. My friend had a copy and I used to spend hours wandering about in his save file. I didn't really know where I was going, but the exploration was fun and awe-inspiring.

Tonight I finished the game for the first time. I've had this copy since 2002, but I haven't felt compelled to try finishing it (my save file mysteriously deleted itself a couple years ago so was kind of unwilling to play again).

Nothing wrong with the cart though, must've just been some dirty connectors. Anyway.

Got 88% completion in about 6 hours, 30 mins. It's an awesome game that I would love to play through again sometime. None of it's sequels are anywhere CLOSE to being as good Super Metroid.

I agree with this being one of the greatest games ever along with Symphony of the Night and Legend of Zelda.

^^ Yeah you could argue that those three are the best ever.

Here are my ten favorite games ever created:

    1. The Legend Of Zelda (The ultimate adventure, i still never get tired of playing through this game
    2. The Legend Of Zelda The Wind Waker (For some reason this game brought back the feel of exploration and adventure from the first Zelda, better than ALTTP and OOT did. Plus it is such a beautiful game. I think it is the greatest game of this era)
    3. Super Metroid (Probably the perfect 2D sidescroller)
    4. Super Mario Brothers 2 US version of Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic (I love the alternate world, plus Wart is cooler than Bowser)
    5. Super Mario Brothers 3 (The best platformer ever created, and a better game than 2, but 2 brings back better memories than 3 for me)
    6. Castlevania Symphony Of The Night (The second best 2D sidescroller)
    7. Guardian Heroes ( greatest beat em up ever created)
    8. Dragon Quest VIII (The greatest turn based rpg ever created)
    9. Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic (The greatest western style rpg ever created. And greatest Star Wars game ever created))
    10. Snatcher (The greatest Story and atmosphere ever created in a video game. It sucks you in and does not let go until the end)

Honarable mentions in no particular order:

    1. The Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past (Second best game on the Super NES)
    2. Super Mario 64 (The game that redifined 3D platforming)
    3. The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time (redifined 3D action/adventure games)
    4. Mega Man 2 (The Blue Bombers greatest game. The second best platformer ever created)
    5. Nights Into Dreams (A beautiful and unique railed platformer that everyone should play)
    6. Archon (The most addicting game ever created)
    7. Super Mario Sunshine (I think it is even better than Super Mario 64, but the impact was not the same for me)
    8. Beyond Good And Evil (Amazing game, with one of the best stories and atmosphere's ever created)
    9. Keio Yu Gekitai Katsugekihen (Amazing Japanese style platformer, with the most beautiful 2D graphics ever created, along with Atelier Iris Eternal Mana)
    10. Castlevania 2 Simons Quest (The music and atmosphere still creep me out to this day. The original Metroidvania)
