Default Cleaning an original Gameboy: where does this part go?

I don't remember where the part on the right hand side goes, connected by the wires. I have tried every possible place, but now I can't get the Gameboy to close:

    Any help appreciated.

Also, I received an Xbox, but every few seconds, the game will say "Reconnect Controller 1". Would this be a problem with the system, or the controller. I'm hoping its just the controller. Maybe a faulty wire or something?

The part looks like it has an LED on it, so it probably goes where the power LED went.

For the Xbox, the controller is probably faulty, but I suppose it could be the controller port. Try keeping the controller perfectly still. Set it on a table or something. Then wiggle sections of the cord to see if there is a break in it.

From the photo it looks like it is the board that holds the battery contacts. There should be a slot on the back cover that holds the board. It sits perpendicular to the other board. It's kind of a pain to get the contacts through the opening as it is just large enough.

For the xbox controller, try using another breakaway cable. If it still doesnt work, then the controller is busted.

That's not an LED, that board is the 5v to 25v converter for the LCD I believe...have you tried below the cart slot?
