Default New Arcade game from Sega

Anybody heard anything about this yet? It looks kinda interesting. I am so sick of the massive number of fighting games polluting the arcades these days, and was hoping that this was something different.

Anyone know the genre or anything?

It's called Key of Avalon and it's being made by Sega and Hitmaker.

The first thing that comes to mind when I see that is...

    GAUNTLET!!!!

That'd be cool to see them do a real update of that style of game.

NO joke! That would rule! Gauntlet Legends was a POS IMO.

Yeah, that is so Gauntlet... especially that green elven type dude on the far right.

Only problem with tryin to make new versions of it is... you can't enhance much more than the graphics without ruining the game in my opinion... and really even touching up the graphics TOO much can ruin it too (IE 3D multicamera views, etc, etc)

I think a 16 bit Version of Gauntlet woulda been nice.
Nice graphics, but not too over the top
Sounds... well.. newer systems would give better sounds, cause you can NEVER make a game sound TOO good.
    and SIMPLE gameplay!

That's what made the oldies so much fun usually.
No instructions, no 310 page manual with additonal 50 page addendum describing latest notes.

    Simple dive in gameplay

Well, from the poster provided it definitely doesn't look like a fighting game.

But, the different "characters" there look don't look like Gauntlet characters to me. There seems to be a difference in power between the elf and the dragons.. Are these characters bosses? The poster is really odd.

I was hoping for a new side scroller personally. Gauntlet was fun back then, but I don't know about now... I never really caught on to Legends.

All Gauntlet references aside, first REAL impression I get is that this is gonna be a game that TRYS to be more than it is with an indepth story and characters and whatnot, but you get down to the nitty gritty, it's gonna be Side Scrolling Beat Em Up.

Probably a "Golden Axe" for the new millenium...

Hey people, this isn't a new game from Acclaim here, it's from SEGA! I am seriously stoked!

That poster makes me feel some gamer bliss. Aside from Soul Caliber 2 i try to avoid arcades now with all it Dance Dance ness (no offense, fun games, but i can't stand the people that i usually find playing them).

It would be nice to get something other then a fighting game or a sim in the arcades again.
I am in fact the guy that made the Raisins prototype worth thousands less by dumping it. "D'oh!!"
