Sorry to hear there won't be another show. I was all ready to go to this one but I had to bail out because of a family emergency.

hey guys, after hearing the bad news, i started talking to a few people i know, and we came up with an idea....we want to have our own expo.....not in reading though, more near central PA......now, right now, we're only thinking about it, but i would love to know if anybody here would have interest, either as a dealer or as an atendee. i hate to jack a thread like this, but i figured everone here on this thread would give some of the best initial feedback.

look for a new thread in this forum by the end of the holiday weekend as soon as i know more about what some of my friends think.

again, sorry to thread jack, and i really dont want to replace the ECGX, but this thread seems like it would be the best place to get some initial feedback

I can't really say too much, but with this topic still getting posts, let me say a few things. First, I think yet another show would be great, although at this years event towards the end, a bunch of vendors and such were talking and everyone agreed that northern Jersey would probably be the best location as it is almost the mid-point to NY, PA, OH (I believe), etc... If a show was to be held in northern Jersey, I know you wouldn't have to worry about only receiving 300 out of an estimated 3000 visitors (This years ECGXpo estimates). The guys who ran ECGXpo 2006 did a lot of work getting the word out on this years show. They had TV commercials on cable channels like the Cartoon Network, MTV, etc..., and I think radio spots as well. I think the overall location was the killer. I was at the show and everyone who I spoke to thought the show was GREAT! The only let down was the overall attendance. Moving such an expo to Northern Jersey would be a good way to eliminate that potential issue. As I mentioned Northern NJ would be like a central point for the outlying areas. I know a lot of fellow NY'ers would attend such an event as it would be much closer. Those who I told about this years ECGXpo all wanted to go, but said it was just too far to warrant a visit for them.

Finally, I don't really have authority to say anything, and even more I don't have much info, but I will say this. One of the former members that brought you the ECGXpo is already looking to the future and has a new expo or classic gaming show that they are in the infant stages of developing. 2007 might be a dead year, but 2008 could see a Spring return of a classic gaming expo in the general vacinity of the ECGXpo shows. Again, I can't really say more than this, but I just thought it might be news worthy to let others who loved the ECGXpo, know that while ECGXpo is DEAD, another show could be rising from the ashes, so don't give up hope. I surely won't!

In closing, I'll definitely miss Chuck, Rob and Matt. They were all great hosts and very friendly. My friend & I went to each ECGXpo partially because these guys were friendly, and you could see they were into it for the love of the games and not to become huge and make a commercial success out of it. To me, it will be sad to know that whatever new shows might happen, the team of Chuck, Rob & Matt probably won't return. Anyhow, if any of those three read this post, I'd like to say thanks for three GREAT years! I'm sorry the last show didn't go well for you guys, but the fun we had, the pictures and video we took of each years show will be with us forever and will help to be a reminder of how much fun it all was. From a vistor and exhibitor's point of view this was a great show and the trilogy of ECGXpo I, II, & III was lots of fun, and excitement. Thanks Again to Chuck, Rob & Matt.

    Sincerely,
    John

Sorry to hear about the show Chuck(and crew). The wifey and I actually made it down to Reading, but we never made it to the show. We had a great time at the Vanity Fair Outlets and going out to dinner and just basically cruising around.

Wish I would have known this was the last ECGX because I feel bad I missed it now. The first two were great and I'm sure this one was no slouch.

Thanks for all the hard work over the years(even spanning back to the PhillyClassic for some of you).

The pics and videos are great Mike! Keep em coming people!

@ Adventurevision: While most folks who attended had a great time, we simply didn't sell enough tickets. Not due to lack of effort. We really felt we'd meet our goals.

Man, I have some more footage of Rob going nuts during the concert. It even includes Chuck going over to him and trying to calm him down. Of course I was egg'ing him on to mosh, and even attempt to stage dive, although that bit was a joke. Seeing how plastered Rob was, I'm surprised he didn't attempt it.

I sure had a lot of fun at this years event. Rob supplied some of the most hilarious moments.

    Hey All!
Just recieved an email from Chuck about this past ECGXpo event. In the email he confirms that he has plans for a show called the GamePlay Xpo and is aiming for a return to the location of the original 2 ECGXpos. The planned dates are sometime in Mar or Apr 2008.

Chuck also explained a bit about this years event and how it dissapointed him and his co-hosts. He even appologized for a few things.

The email should have gone out to all vendors and I guess others that were on his ECGxpo mailing list, so others here may have also received the email.

Anyhow, just wanted to say that Chuck has confirmed that he is already working on a new show. I can't wait to see more info from Chuck.

Greetings, I too am sad to see ECGX come to a close and wished the attendance was better this year. Chuck, you've been great to us, and you have a free table at MAGFest when it comes time to promote your next endeavour.

To everyone else we met at ECGX both this and last year, I would like to give a shout-out and invite you all down to our show that we were plugging. Please feel free to poke me on AIM and get in touch! We'd love to talk to anyone we made friends with at ECGX.
