Have you sold or traded a game you DON'T have a double of?

The only game I've sold in the past year that I didn't have a double of was Mario Sunshine. Other than that, I NEVER sell/trade in games. You?

I sell mine constantly because, firstly, I'm not a collector. Secondly, I think most games as a whole arent worth keeping: Some are just outright horrible, some are OK, and some i just dont have desires to play through again (usually story heavy adventure games). Out of the few I do have, i consider em the best of the best of their genres and are untouchable.

Hmm...I voted yes, but I'm not sure if that was what I meant. I don't trade every game after I'm done playing it, but since I decided I don't have the space, money, or desire to be a completist, I get choosy about what I hang on to. Actually, that's not entirely true either, because I only get rid of doubles of 2600 and 5200 games. Everything else is kind of based on if I'll ever play the game again or if there's some other reason I want to hang on to it.

I used to be the worst for doing that, until I whittled my collection down to my "keeper" games. I realized that I was really screwing myself over by impulse buying too much stuff, then trading it back in soon after.

I'm not too bothered by trading games in towards others since the money I've spent is staying within my hobby, and the loss I take on some games is offset by the great deals I have gotten.

Last game I traded in was DOA Volleyball, due to it's xtreme(pun intended) amounts of suckage.

It really depends on the system for me. I once sold Tunnel Runner because someone offered me $20 for it, but other than that I've never sold/traded an Atari 2600 double. NES games on the other hand, I will gladly trade away unles I really like it and can't get it for another system.

Probably my biggest example of doing this was a copy of Fathom for the Intellivision. I got a fair price for it on Ebay, however at the time I didn't realize how rare it was. I don't regret it because I don't play my INTV and when I tested the game, I thought it was horrible. It would have been nice to hang onto it a while longer and use it as trade bait, but I was just getting started in collecting and the money allowed me to buy some other stuff I wanted.

I traded in Rat Attack (PSX) and Asteroids (PSX) for credit, as I didn't care for either. Sometimes I think I shouldn't have gotten rid of Asteroids, but I have no regrets about Rat Attack.

Shortly after that, I pretty much decided that I'm hanging on to everything, because some games can at least serve as bad examples (MST3K type fun to be had).

My collection of unlicensed NES carts has actually become my greatest source of trade bait. After collecting them for a couple of years, I realized just how much drawer space they took up. So, I cut 'em loose to expand collections that I care more for. There was only one time I almost regretted it, packing up my Tengen Tetris for mailing, but then I was better once I got my 2600 stuff in return : )

The only things that I will *not* trade away at all (unless I have multiples of course) are 2600, Intv, SMS, and Arcadia... as well as Sonic and Mega Man stuff. Everything else can be charmed off of me with the right trade.

I do that VERY often. For one of two reasons. 1) the game I'm getting is harder to find than the one I'm parting with or; 2) I'm helping someone - with a much better collection of that system - get closer to completing it.

I'll trade away any game in my collection thats not a prized possesion, or any game that I just never play. I'm a gamer first, collector second.

I collect, but if I don't have the system, or it's a game I don't particularly like, I'll just get rid of it. If it doesn't really get any play time and I don't really want it, it goes into the trade bin.

Well, I try my best not to buy anything I don't want, so I don't really sell anything. The only problem with this is that I've got virtually no trade bait, and would probably have to part with something vital if someone wanted to trade for something I wanted more. Other times I'll pick up something impulsively, and then decide I don't want it.

I can't see myself parting with anything I own right now unless someone offers me something I really want, like a Sega Master System or a set of Mega Man games.

I've only sold four games in my entire life, Ms. Pac-Man for the Lynx, Maken X and Space Channel 5 for the Dreamcast, and Myriad 6-in-1 for the NES. I have since bought replacement copies of those games, other than the Myriad. I never liked the NES, I don't collect for it, so I didn't feel any need to keep it in my collection. I sold it on eBay (the only thing I've ever bought or sold on eBay) for a tidy sum to our own Jumpman Jr.

I tend to go through phases where I sell off large amounts of the games that have built up that I know I'll never get to or have no interest in (I tend to impulse buy alot of games if they're cheap enough). I also sometimes will sell off stuff if I'm looking at making a large purchase (like when I picked up my two arcade machines and a new bike recently).

If I don't like a game I'll most likely sell it off, I don't have a lot of room and I'd rather have more space for games I like.

That's pretty much how I feel about it. I collect a tiny bit, but mostly I get games only to play or resell. I resell a lot of games that I don't have doubles of because they were bought for the sole purpose of reselling, but I also sell some from my own collection that just aren't that great.

I came across the Zellers Front Line (VCS) not too long ago. Since I need another Combat cart like I need another hole in my head, I swapped it for Aliens (since they're roughly the same rarity level).

I'd do something like that again in a heartbeat. But I'm not as hardcore as others.

Well, I can't vote, cause I traded a game that I didn't have a duplicate of that I wanted to keep this week. You don't have a category for that. I'll replace it later, but I traded it cause the ones I'm getting in return are MUCH harder to find. Makes it worthwhile. Normally, I don't trade games that I like that I don't have two of.

If I'm collecting for a system, I never trade away games I don't have doubles of. The one exception is when I find a very rare game for cheap that just sucks to play and I've been willing to sell it for big bucks. I'm just not into rare games, I like having large game collections but if I'll never play it, I can be tempted to sell. My ratio is usually finding a rare game for 1 or 2 bucks, I can then be tempted to sell it if I'll get at least 30 bucks.

Unless I KNOW I'll never see it again I'll trade or sell just about anything.

Even stuff I might never see again I've done this with. It all depends on what you get in return.

The only exception to this are items which were given to me with the specific instructions not to sell (internal company items and modern prototypes etc)

Being an NES exclusive collector, i tend to trade away certain games/items for other items i want more. I will trade my games away for others that i want more, but i almost never sell them. The only exceptions have been with rare games that i didnt pay much for, and was able to make an insane profit off of.
