Personaly i think its the PS2 just for Monster Hunter. Also God of War, Shadow Of the Colossus, Guitar Hero, Dragon Quest VIII.
The inner fanboy in me wants to say the 360 but i repess that with heavy drinking.
I second the DS. I love my 360, i love Shadow and god of war on my PS2 and i love RE4 and Killer 7 on my GC, but all in all the most impressive system has been the DS
With hits like:
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Mario kart DS
Animal Crossing
Nintendogs
Meteos
Kirby's Canvase Curse
Sonic Rush
and amazing titles like:
Pheonix Wright
Trauma Centre
Nanostray
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
Even the less succesful but stil innovative games like:
Trace Memory
Lost in Blue
The DS has had one of the best years a system can have and it should be a shoe in.
Much like Robin Hood, my GP2X slightly circumvents the law to make me love the more simple joys of gaming. Why pay $29.99 for the Final Fantasy IV remake when I can just play the ROM?
(I own the actual cart)
(...and can play it at a higher resolution with nothing tainted by the contaminated imagination of new school Squeenix. The emulators can't exactly "handle" it, but I hear there's slowdown in the GBA battles some times, so they're even.)
Collector of 1,673 strategy guides, and BlazBlue ain't one of them.
DS, no question.
I'm on my DS almost every day, can't say that about any other system this year.
I like the one responder in the comments section of that article who says that Gameboys and the DS are too kiddy and beneath him so he'll stick it out with the PSP's limited games right now, what a gamer
I've played my PS2 most, but I'd still have to say the DS had the best year. March, the PSP launched with as many titles as the DS saw in the 5-6 months prior, plus the PSP was multi-function and easily modded. Now, the DS has kicked out a plethora of killer apps, plus a *very* accessible online infrastructure, even if it's not very robust. The PSP has become almost an oddity stacked up against the DS, unless you're talking about emulation (and I'm not counting movies, just because of how bad UMD is as a format compared to DVD).
I love my computer games like CSS.
the N-Gage
no really its been a great year for those of us who have and enjoy the system.
Rifts: The old pen and paper game that no other video game system could get Nokia some how gets. x_x
High Sieze: A great Advance Wars style game with a better story with branching paths and online play
Catan: A great boardgame to videogame conversion by Capcom
System Rush: Tron meets F-Zero and good things happen
Pathway to Glory: Great online military strategy game
plus: Glimmerati, Asphalt 2, One, Mile High Pinball
I just wanted to point out that the N-Gage had some outstanding games come out this year but I would probably vote for the DS as well. The N-Gage did have more great games than the PSP this year.
I think you'd have to go with the DS. The PS2 and Xbox both had solid years and the launch of the Xbox 360 is pretty impressive, but overall, the DS had the most to gain or lose this year. While it too it a long, long time to get there, the last four months have seen tons of very solid releases for it.
Next year, I think it will be up to the Xbox 360 or the PSP to make the most strides or to drop the ball.

DS no contest. There have been good showings but, the DS has justified it's existance this year. I say this despite even my own skepticism I had for the DS last year when it launched. Now if the PSP can pull down a sophomore year like the DS has I'd say it could justify it's existance also. Show us the games gumdarnit! lol

I love the DS but I'd also like to point out its had some of the very worst games to come out this year as well. People give the PS2 a hard time for all the garbage titles it has but the DS is right there as is the GBA.
I am going to say it's a tie for me between the PS2 and the DS
They had both great years and amazing games came out for both systems, just a great year for gaming

I'll have to go with a tie between the ps2 and ds as well. They both had great game released this year. As for the 360, meh, there isn't one game on that thing at the moment that would entice me to spend the amount of money that I could use to buy all 3 other game consoles for.
DS, hands down.
I have had many versions of the Gameboy over the years, and owned plenty of games for them, but it wasnt until I started playing my DS that I actually became a handheld fan!

Yep, have to agree, it's been a DS year.
Personally, I think it's the PS2, because of the revolutionary EyeToy camera.
I totally agree, I was going to say PSP but the PSP just SLOWED down after the launch, I must say the launch was really impressive best launch from wat I have seen, but the DS has really solid games compared to the first 9 or so months where it sucked ass. On the home console I was going to say that the xbox360 really impressed me with xbox live marketplace by my xbox 360 is dead and MS's customer service is totaly shit.Originally Posted by Johnny_Rock
But the developers really put effort into big games so I will say that the Ps2 had the best year in 2005.
