I really hope the people who complain about the current lack of innovation in the gaming industry aren't the same people who criticize the Revolutions assumed inability to properly control traditional games. This control is a big bold step for innovation. It might change the industry (analog stick) or it might wither and die (Virtual Boy) but it is innovation. I expect I'll play traditional FPS and other existing generes on a 360 and PS3 and I expect I'll play totally new and crazy stuff on the Revolution.

I’ve thought all along that the Revolution will be a step sideways rather than a step forward. Kind of like switching tracks. I don’t expect it to be lumped in with the 360 and PS3. Nintendo would do well if the Revo is looked at like a secondary system. Someone would have the 360 and a Revo or the PS3 and a Revo.

    Take a hike, wang-broom!
I swear I can smell your stinky hands from here!

well if that happened wouldn't that make the Rev number one not number two.

"nintendo is dumb they suck I don't like them they won't get me to play their system nya"

Stuff like that's not bothering me at all right now or from now on, I knew there were like "nintendo fanboys" but the antifanatacism is bursting a the seems at the chance to act out under the guise of an objective overview. R0VK ON!!!1 You guys, I always knew you existed (as opposed to The always apparent N fanboyism) but you hardly ever come out in such droves. What I'm saying is what a load of waisted energy, you're only making me laugh ("Nintendo's making a controller that was designed for only two or three games", Nintendo nailed a nice new coffin around itself haha", "Nintendo might succeed against the PSP" "Third parties are a no, this spells the end") Ah well I don't want to make you guys too angry, good luck on your crusade and all. Pfft, you slip among us and are more see through then a.. something that's ... a.. a transparent thing!

quoted was a paraphrase from the movie grabs actually so no to that, but yeah "as" should be "us".

It was "meant" as satire, for people who like nintendo, since this is Nintendo's thread. But its only intended to bug anyone who's got the whole anti-nintendo affacianado agenda thing going. So um, sorry about your tail feathers?

Don't worry about it. I just like picking on people who don't have any writing skills or literacy.

But they won't get the best of both worlds, because Nintendo has stated over and over that they aren't looking to compete with Sony and Microsoft in terms of processing power, storage capacity, etc. If that's true (and everything points to it being true), we may see a Nintendo Revolution that is seriously underpowered and unable to run a proper port of the latest and greatest PS3/Xbox360 games. The "shell" controller is pretty meaningless in terms of 3rd party support if Nintendo is whole-heartedly behind this whole idea of creating a new paradigm in gaming ... and if they're not, then what's the point?

who cares? Nintendo's a card company, they've aces up their sleeve, and the world's their oyster.

Presumably, judging by the starchy whiteness of the controller, they're going to pop it back in the oven until it's a crispy golden brown.

Well they did say that the Revolution would be 2-3 times more powerful than the Gamecube. Just image a RE 4 type game multiplied by 3... there you go.

    1. Waving your hand around and holding the remote up for a few hours will get old.

    2. Waving one hand around to look in a FPS while using a traditional analog stick in the other hand is not going to be easy. Take your hands off of the keayboard and try it right now. How akward is that?

Non-tendo are done; stick a fork in them.

They'll be a 3rd party by the end of '08.

you don't have to wave your hand around for hours..you can rest your hands comfortably on your lap and the controller doesn't have to be moved much at all...please look into stuff before you make such obviously false points. And if you don't know where to get information, watch the press conferance at Gamespot...then head over to 1up.com to watch the roundtable...or you can READ the info just about anywhere if your not feeling lazy.

This is indeed a Revolution. Nintendo has just developed a completely new product. It is not a video game console. It is a whole new form of entertainment. I can see this being marketed as a completely new thing which could either be percieved as a gimmick and fail or actually take off and be bought and used by people - and the people I see it being most popular with are non-gamers. This is the market Nintendo has stated they are after and I think they could have it if they have the right software available on or near launch and market it correctly. The thing then is that this system can be used as a normal video game console also - simply with a new and exciting input device. The possibilities for FPS games seems really good and for games like that I don't percieve any fatigue as you simply rest your arm down on an armrest or your lap and move your wrist like simply using a TV remote control but with direction also. For racing games they can simply make a steering wheel controller which you plug in the freehand controller. Everyone else is simply doing more of what is currently being done but Nintendo are actually trying to open up completely new areas of growth and still cater towards the traditional gaming crowd.

the one thing that worries me is that us here at DP are (mostly) thinking of the Revolution from a perspective of a gamer, a person who LOVES video games. But I keep having to remind myself that it doesn't matter how amazing this thing is going to be, everything comes down to money, and if its not worth EA's(and other 3rd partys) time to make games for the system, they won't, no matter how much they might personally love the system. So heres to hoping the Revolution is a big commercial success, so us gamers will get the quality products we want.

I dont wanna say 'hey support it or you dont love games', and i dont want to tell you what to do, but I feel like the more we suppost the Revolution (with our cold hard cash) the more we will get payed back in quality (3rd Party) games.

I was having an egosearch on my old posts, and thought I'd thread-necro this so everyone insisting that Nintendo was done could have a chuckle.
