The AV Fami is a nice system. The picture is SO much clearer than on the original FC.

Out of curiosity, if you don't mind, what did you pay for it?

$140 shipped. There was only one boxed out on eBay at the moment, and I couldn't be bothered paying more for a Famicom "1"

Yay, AV Famicom! I wish I had one of those - it looks cooler than the original model Famicom, and the fact that it has AV hookups is great.

I've heard some good and bad about the A/V FC.

Interestingly, I have two of them and the box is slightly different for each.

I picked up Haunted Casino for the Saturn about a week ago.

Ganbare Goemon 2 complete, from Hit-Japan, since I had no luck with Rising Stuff.

    It's for my fiancé.

The famicom av is a good model i use one though there are a few down sides to it.

No microphone on the controllers and some third party controllers will not work on it,such as the joyball and the XE-1 Pro fc joystick.

Heck i still need to get a original famicom i so i can use the XE-1 pro fc

Those downsides doesn't really matter to me at all. I _needed_ an AV Famicom because RF never really "made it" in Norway (and other places in Europe). The NES was the first "real" console we got, and it came with AV jacks. Only the really old TV's (Atari, Commodore 64 era) had RF jacks.

By the way, are Famicom regarded as an expensive console to collect for? Seems like most of the games I initially want are in the $50-$100 range. And why can't I find Crisis Force or Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti ANYWHERE?

Really? I didn't know that. The only 3rd party accessory I have is the Arkanoid paddle, and it works fine on both the 1983 Famicom and on the AV Fami.

I can hook you up if you want. PM me.

Nope, unless you want some of the rarer import games like you just mentioned!!!

You might be right, but I still think some of the prices for games you'd expect to be fairly cheap and common, are too high.

Anyway, recommendations on good and cheap games are most welcome, as I've just entered the Famicom scene, and only know of the real "must-haves".

I know where you can find Splatterhouse actually. Don't pay too much for that one.

True, and also vice-versa. Look at Castlevania (Akuma-jou Dracula) on the Famicom. It's usually around $100.

got the PS3 Bayonetta yesterday. can't put it down!

yea, i know it comes out here next month. whatever.

i do find it weird that all the menus and dialog are in english.

for some reason Enzo sounds like Joe Pesci. i'm sure it was intentional though.

    That's because it's the rare cartridge re-release.

On the other hand, the cartridge re-release of Zelda should not be as expensive (although I didn't get it as cheaply as I could have).

I usually see it for $20-40 here, often closer to $40. That's local, so importing would add on a bit.

Not sure if I'll keep it or sell it... but I'm leaning towards keep.

Nah, it's the other way around, as far as I know. Can't remember exactly.

    Nice find!

Recently picked up Judgement Silversword from an online store in Japan. I <3 Google translation tools. It finished my "trilogy".
