Default How to fix broken nes controllers

    Hey everyone!
I bought a nes system at aflea market for my cousin's birthday. 30 bucks w/ games, but it won't power up and two out of the three don't work. I opened them up and tried the eraser trick, still nothing. One won't respond, the other pauses when I hit the "b" button. I do have an extra box, so that's done but the controllers, uugh!! What is the best method?
    thanks!

It's not worth the trouble to fix standard NES controllers because they are so cheap and plentiful. My advice would be to hit up your local thrift store(s) and buy some controllers to replace the broken ones.

Cursory things to look into would be cleaning any debris/dirt in the controller plugs and ports, and doing a continuity test on the color coded wires inside the gamepad and to the end of the plug.

The good doctor pretty much nailed it though, going to be much easier and cheaper to snag more controllers if time is valuable to you. Holding onto the broken spares ensures you'll have replacement rubber pads should you need them in the future.
