That's basically saying they're the worst. I mean, Sony is just jumping in to this. Aren't they "dark-horse?" And the "dark-horse" contenders got the least magazine coverage, with all of them on one page.

That's not at all what they're saying. When something is a dark horse, it means it's not as well known, but could still upset the competition. This may be Sony's first handheld, but they've dominated the video game industry for the past 10 years and everyone knows about the PSP.

I didn't feel that the Nintendo article was the least bit biased at all. It argued its points very effectively and maturely, and to simply dismiss it as the mere ramblings of some whining kiddy fanboy only shows that you are a victim of anti-Nintendo propaganda. I am not a Nintendo fanboy. If anything I'm an anti-Nintendo diehard Sega fanboy, but even I can see that the Nintendo article was clearly not biased, nor merly the ramblings of some whining kiddy fanboy. So I would suggest that if you think it was then by all means march like a lemming to the store to buy a PSP, just like all the rest of your Sony fanboy brainwashed buddies, and be happy with your poorly engineered overpriced piece of crap when it breaks within a week. And no, I'm nowhere near as anti-Sony as I am anti-Nintendo, but if you can honestly believe that Sony can do no wrong after 3 consecutive systems that all have or have had serious problems with the hardware at launch, then you are a blind idiot. Neither Sega nor Nintendo ever had as many problems with any of thei hardware at launch as Sony has, and has had repeatedly, but hey, it's your money, so go ahead and waste it on another piece of overhyped Sony shit. Then you'll be as cool as all the other pissed off people that your corporate saviour the almighty Sony will conveniently ignore, as they insist that all the problems either don't exist or they were engineered that way on purpose, just as they have done ever since they entered the gaming hardware market.

No, they haven't shut up about Street Fighter 2. They regard it to be the number one multiplayer game of all time in their recent issue, beating out Bomberman, Goldeneye, Halo, etc.

I agree the article sucks(but consider the source x_x ), but I also agree that the "fanboyism" is in full effect.

1. Although the DS is selling more in Japan, it came out first and is cheaper, of course it is going to sell more. Japan is alot different than the US when it comes to games. Only time will tell what portable will really be doing better sales wise. It is too early to determine that yet, shit the PSP is still not out here, and both systems were just recently launched in Japan.

2. Nintendo will be the only ones in the end that will hurt their sales, not a shitty mag, nor a shitty article. You want to shoot your success of a launch of a new system? Come out with a dozen or so games and then wait a half year to come out with more titles. Yeah, that sounds like a good counterpunch to the PSP .

3. If you know me, I am a HUGE NINTENDO FAN and thier products. If you ask me they are playing the wrong game with Sony and thier portable. I personally think that BOTH of the systems could possibly be shadowed by the launch of possibly 3 new home consoles in the next year and a half. MOST people are going to chose a system or two and not purchase all of them. If I have a choice, I will probably be getting a new Xbox when they drop to $99 in the distant future!

4. The PSP has its issues, but Nintendo is not helping themselves out AT ALL. I feel that Nintendo got scared that Sony was releasing a next gen gaming device, and so they rushed a "portable to cover the bases till the GBA2 comes out". It shows, it really shows. Personaly, both portables can kiss my ass.

EGM kicks things off by declaring the Sony PSP “the clear favorite in the brewing portable brouhaha.” This is a laughable claim. Clear favorite? Says who? It certainly cannot be the gamers because the PSP has not even been released yet in the US and is behind the DS in overall sales in Japan.

People are flocking to it like lemmings because there's more good games in the lanuch library than the DS has managed to scrounge together in the three months since it's release. When Tiger Woods Golf is the best game for your system, you've got a problem. Feel the Magic is pretty good to, but only lasts for about an hour.

Who cares? It's called the "new shit shuffle" folks. Ask Sega how they felt when the ps2 hit the scene and they weren't getting as much cover-time anymore. It's the same thing. I'm not saying the DS will end up like the DC, I'm just saying that they want the newest and hottest thing on the cover, regardless of whether or not it's put out by your favorite company. The DS is still doing fine and will continue to do so. It's also a fact that it can't put out PSP quality graphics, but does, in fact, have the advantage(?) of the touch screen. EGM chose their words poorly there and in doing so enraged a whole generation of 20-somethings who still morbidly cling to little whisps of nostalgia they hold for a multimillion dollar coroporation that shaped their youth.

Summary: get over it.

I was going to post in this thread, but then you said everything I wanted to. With the exception of one thing: Sega fans were a hell of a lot more subdued when the PS2 eclipsed the Dreamcast, and in retrospect they probably had a lot more to complain about.

Amen. Even when Sega fans grumbled about basis, it was a bit more restrained and a bit more believeable.

I just have to say: the downfall of Nintendo will be because of their forehead-slappingly bad decisions of the past 8 years, and any new ones to come.

And here we have a winner. At least Sega fans could admit that Sega cocked up with the CD, 32X and the Saturn. While Nintendo hasn't quite had a screw up as spectacular (except for the Virtual Boy,) the company has made some decisions that anyone looking from an objective viewpoint would consider as bad.

The idea that if, if, anything bad happens to Nintendo it's a product of anything other than their bad decisions in the last 2 hardware generations is completely laughable. This is the company that had a lead pipe cinch on the console market for a long time and still dominates the handheld market. The fact of the matter is, Sony came along and shook up the market and rather than trying to compete, Nintendo stubbornly plods along like it's Christmas 1989.

I can accept that EGM likes PSP over every other handheld. Their mag does not make PSP any better then any other handheld- Not even Microvision.

EGM is not going to convinvce me that PSP is better than DS.

I feel the exact same way.

The thing that gets me is that if Sony or Microsoft had cobbled together something like the DS all the Nintendo fanatics would be saying how slapped together that thing was and that it would never de-throne Nintendo's gameboy line.

But since the DS is made by Nintendo it has to be gold.

With that said, i can also see where Nintendo is doing stupid things as well.
