That totally sucks. They should've showed the PSP and the DS side by side.
Bad media is going to be the downfall of Nintendo not the games nor the online support. I think its a real shame that one of the oldest and better gaming systems is going to follow the path of the dodo bird because of bad media and coverage.![]()
I have that issue and I must admit that the review did sound biased. Good thing I am one of the few consumers who doesn't go by everything read in one article, but rather many articles and word of mouth. There are very few places where you would find good reviews on Nintendo products simply becuase it is adults writing the articles and Nintendo is seen as a kiddie toy that doesn't deserve any consideration from true gamers. Besides, it doesn't hurt to get on the good side of the world's largets electronic manufacturer.![]()
That's the stupidest article I've ever seen, and I'm not talking about the EGM article.
I can't stand EGM anymore, cancelled my subscription, thought they were a LITTLE bit biased in that article, but what is in the link is anti-egm nintendo-fanboy BS.

That must be the most ridicoulous thing I have ever read in my life.
...Well, yeah. It's an article on nintendonow.com. Of course it's going to be biased towards Nintendo. Certainly you've got to take it with a grain of salt, but I think the article made several interesting points. And especially that cover...Originally Posted by Sylentwulf

Quite frankly I find this disgusting, and even though I haven't bought a gaming mag in many years, things like this aren't going to encourage me to start soon.
..And if it was the DS that the bias was thrown towards instead of the PSP, I'd feel the EXACT same way. Although if it was the DS, something tells me I wouldn't be reading an article denouncing it... or not as soon, in any event.
Rather than just slamming the article as being "rediculous" why don't you give a bit more detail and explain to us why you think its rediculous. Do you disagree with any of the points that the author made? Which ones and why? And try sticking to facts in your response, not bias.Originally Posted by BigGeorgeJohnson
I think these guys are overreacting here. First of all, the cover photo is supposed to sell magazines. The PSP is simply more eye-catching than the DS. If they had put them side-by-side, then that would only illustrate how much larger the PSP screen is.
Also, the comment about the PSP being the favorite could mean a lot of things. I took it to mean the PSP has a better chance of reaching a large audience, because of more third-party support. This is true, isn't it? The PSP is clearly the favorite among big name developers. One look at the launch games will show you that there are many more games that will appeal to the average gamer on the PSP than on the DS.
The rest of the piece is just fanboy nonsense. When the article was written, even Sony reps said the PSP would be under $200; this was not an innacuarcy. And I love it when people dismiss Acid as a card game, even though it's no more a card game than Baten Kaitos.

Fuck EGM!
(sorry I'm in a bad mood, read the Digital Bar in off topic)
Who cares? It's called the "new shit shuffle" folks. Ask Sega how they felt when the ps2 hit the scene and they weren't getting as much cover-time anymore. It's the same thing. I'm not saying the DS will end up like the DC, I'm just saying that they want the newest and hottest thing on the cover, regardless of whether or not it's put out by your favorite company. The DS is still doing fine and will continue to do so. It's also a fact that it can't put out PSP quality graphics, but does, in fact, have the advantage(?) of the touch screen. EGM chose their words poorly there and in doing so enraged a whole generation of 20-somethings who still morbidly cling to little whisps of nostalgia they hold for a multimillion dollar coroporation that shaped their youth.
Summary: get over it.
I stopped reading magazines a long time ago, I only like announcements and news online. EGM is biased. Of course they are gonna trash DS, because Sony paid them a truckload to lie and support, plus it's the new toy on the street.
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Actually, it is "ridiculous".Originally Posted by Griking

Wow, there is someone out there who doesn't think the PSP will be the system of choice? News to me.
This is really low for EGM to do...that cover is just not right. this is my highlight in that article:
that is so very intentional, i mean come on, princess peach and pokemon dash were the ONLY titles EGM could coose as "up coming hot games" out of the massive library that is lined up?The unfair reporting unfortunately seeps into the games outlined in the DS section as well. While the article promised to “look at the hottest upcoming titles” for the portables, the DS lineup displayed oddly omits many promising upcoming hits and includes a few games that seem to be the last games EGM’s target demographic would want to buy. Games like Pokemon Dash, Super Princess Peach, Frogger, and Atari Classics made it on the list while better looking, true sure-fire hits that highlight the DS’s capabilities such as Rayman DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Dynasty Warriors, Another Code, and Super Mario Bros. DS were strangely absent. Just the simple ridiculous decision to place Super Princess Peach as one of the hottest upcoming DS titles instead of Super Mario Bros. DS sounds like an intentionally misleading act.
this gets me so mad...
When I read my copy of EGM , I thought the article was Crap.
And I bought that copy just for that article.
Some of the exact same things that were mentioned in the link above, were things I mentioned to my wife while I was reading the article.
Specifically I thought that the games shown for the DS were shown just to make the PSP look better graphically. Granted it is better , but still it seemed the editors were trying to really put down the DS. IMHO
It's EGM. This magazine hasn't been fair or unbiased since like 1990.
At least they quit rambling on non-stop about how cool "Street Fighter 2" is.
I don't know whats worse, reading that EGM article or reading the rebuttal on the Nintendo fanboy website.

on a side note, i have that issue, and i have a DS, i dont think the report was biased at all, keep in mind that that article is written approximately a month or two before it was published, at which time they really didnt know how well the DS sells and all the games were not yet anounced. so EGM reported what how things looked at that time, which were in PSP's favor, nothing wrong with that. too many fanboys throw a sissy fit when someone dares say something anit Nintendo.... ridiculous.
i own a ds and i will buy a psp, its clear as day the psp will be more powerful and i dont see a reason in beating this horse dead, egm reported whats true and egm is a mainstream magazine, therefor, whatever is more casual or mainstream will indeed take center stage.
if you tell me your secret, i'll let you hold postulio's little hand.

In fact the Editor in-chief from EGM wrote an edito about this a few months back (claiming that EGM would never resort to such things for game review) - I for myself believe that NO will refuse all the offers and that they will at some point compromise their integrety. Wether it is for an exclusive or because their ebst buddy worked on the game is not the point : THEY WILL EVENTUALLY DO IT.
I was going to post in this thread, but then you said everything I wanted to. With the exception of one thing: Sega fans were a hell of a lot more subdued when the PS2 eclipsed the Dreamcast, and in retrospect they probably had a lot more to complain about.Who cares? Fanboys that get paid... but the Media can be bride, look how many promotional items they get and display in their magazines..
Time for you to crawl back into your hole sir....because I know how this system works for a very long time, don't judge me unless ye be judged.
You want proof? you won't find it, because it's all about the money and they'll lie in your face if they were offered it or not.
Obviously, you don't know me. Yet you prove my point by your statement,Originally Posted by howdoin

I rest my case sir, Ziff Davis publishing and Sony Corp have been very good friends for a long time since the days of US Offical PSX Magazine...
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
No, they haven't shut up about Street Fighter 2. They regard it to be the number one multiplayer game of all time in their recent issue, beating out Bomberman, Goldeneye, Halo, etc. (in my opinion, a 4 player game will almost always beat a 2 player game for multiplayer fun). It's EGM. This magazine hasn't been fair or unbiased since like 1990.

Secondly, I would liken the EGM article to diarrhea, for its' similarity to a pile of feces, it's annoying factor and the fact that both call for lots of paper. The fanboy article is more like vomit. Not only does it taste horrible coming back up, but you also get reminded of the unsavory article which caused it.
I just have to say: the downfall of Nintendo will be because of their forehead-slappingly bad decisions of the past 8 years, and any new ones to come.Originally Posted by Dk_slammer
