Default Wow! That was amazing! [Super Metroid :-O]

Well after 5 hours and 45 minutes of pure adrenaline, and a total of 65% of items collected, i finally beat Super Metroid

This is the first game in years to have absored me completely in a long long time!
I only managed to get it a month ago for £2.99 and it was the best £2.99 ive ever spent!
The graphics on this, IMO, are superb, to think this game is 10 years old, its spot on. No part of the game (graphically) was a let down, the controls were also great. (Apart from the wall jump technique which i though was a little tough) Samus responds great!
Sound wise, the "shooooo" of every door and "zzzzuuup" of Samus's gun were great too!

Although one thing had me left a little ...
why does the huge metroid decide to help you after sucking the brains out of you? (also i felt the final boss was a little weak)

Basically i wanna say to anyone who hasnt got this game, track it down as you wont be disapointed, i can say this with confidence as i have played so many games and been disapointed by many, this one is the opposite! And easily replayable!

So any other Super Metroid Fans out there?

Ditto, its in the intro. It hatched and hovered around Samus and he didn't kill it. It came back to help him later.

It remembered Samus (End of part 2)...the Metroid thought she was it's mother...that's why it saved her

I just finished Metroid Prime last night and Metroid Zero Mission, Fusion, and Return of Samus the weeks directly before Prime (basically all in a row). So, I finally beat ALL the Metroid games. Now comes Prime 2 and the DS title...I'm just in time!! It feels good to get that accomplished.

Haha I would have said something if she hadn't.

Anyways yea, great storyline with the games. Super Metroid is one of my very favorite games. To challenge yourself try beating it in under 3 hours. Something different happens at the end.

This is still one of my all time favorites. I remember the ending quite fondly. And your right about the graphics, sounds and controls. It was a dream to play and a great example of Metroid should continue to be like.. Sadly the example was lost with the most recent versions. But that's just me. :P

If you save the animals you can see a little pod get launched off the planet at the end when you do.
I loved the game i played through it in around 6 hours and got 80ish% completion.

And i remember that when you beat it, the end sequence is different. Sometimes Samus is in full armor, sometimes half armor, and sometimes no armor (showin off that hot intergalatic bod of hers). I cant remember if it has to do with time or items or % complete

Under 3 hours no armor. I don't know the time requirements for the other 2 but i think when i beat it she was in full armor.
So i guess under 5 would be half armor although i don't quite remember that.
I have seen the ending so many times though i don't remember which one was mine.

Yup, it's one of my favorites, too. The extra details in that game, like the sound of the rain beating down on the upper levels of Brinstar, are fantastic, and the music is some of the best from any video game, period. I was really happy with Metroid Fusion, because it seemed to capture some of that "magic" that Prime didn't (and I'm not talking about the 3-D facelift...that actually worked really well.)

Ah, you struck a chord. Super Metroid is my VERY Favorite game. And I've got a lot of favorite games. It's just perfect, beautiful, a masterpiece. I still break it out a couple of times a year and go all the way through it.

I went back a couple of years ago and finally beat Metroid 2, and even that was a thrill. I sat down, just like the old days with the first Metroid, and mapped it out as I went (the only other game besides those two that I've ever made a map to was the second quest of Pitfall 2 for Atari 5200). Something very satisfying in that.

Earlier this year, I snatched Metroid Zero Mission on launch day (the only game I've ever bought on launch day!) and totally devoured it, went through it in a couple of weeks. That was a rush!

Now I really need to go through and beat Metroid Prime and Fusion, which I've had for a couple of years, but never sat down and beat them yet.

But Super Metroid is still the best. Just perfect.
