Default Video Effects in MAME -- do you use them?

Okay, so there I was, sitting around and playing a few random games on MAME, when I decided to play around with the effects a bit. Some of them are very cool, like the scanlines and the feedback (two great tastes that taste great together!). Also, if you use a MAME variant, such as MAME Plus!, you can actually have different video modes (like 2xSai and Super Eagle).

So, my question for you is this: do you use these cool (but sacreligious) effects? And if so, which ones are your favorite?

I do scanlines on my MAME Cabinet just to try and make it look a little more realistic. If I ever redo my MAME Cab, I'm going to use a television to get that video game look. I haven't tried some of those other effects you mentioned, maybe I will soon!

    naaa..

I run with the real arcade VGA card connected to a real arcade monitor (25" Wells-gardner that was once used in a generic CPS2 arcade machine).

No need for cool effects.. I got the real thing.

Flack, if you don't mind playing with electronics, it might be cheaper for you to buy the arcade VGA + 8-liner chasis. You then go to your local TV repair store and pick up a free tube (they have to pay to dispose of them!).

The 8-liner will convert the tube into a real arcade monitor, and the arcadeVGA will give you the refresh rate/res/etc of a real arcade PCB (except you use a PC).

With all of those cabinets around, why not just take one of the JAMMA cabs and use an arcade monitor?
