The Mario Bros arcade game wasn't bad on the 2600, I could see that. I think Qix is a poor choice though, the 2600 isn't very good at moving tiny pixels around.Originally Posted by Cmosfm
I always wanted a 2600 Galaga. Phoenix and Demon Attack weren't that far off, so I just didn't get why they never came out with Galaga. I mean, years later we got Stargate, and still no Galaga. Also, it seemed like in a lot of cases they were really scraping the bottom of the arcade barrel...it seemed like every game, no matter how obscure, got released. Vanguard? Uh, OK. How many of you were fans of Venture in the arcades? So it seemed strange that Atari would overlook this very popular game...they probably could have gotten away with a crummy version of it like they did with Pac Man, at least I would have been happy to have Galaga for a couple of days before it sunk in how bad it was.
Gitaroo Man!
(even though it's impossible because the atari 2600 only has 1 button!)
My collection:

Donkey Kong with all four stages.
Congo Bongo with all four stages and completely revamped
Jump Man
Galaga
All of those although Graphically limited would play pretty smooth.
On another knote, I would love to see some more platform games ported to the Colecovision and the Atari 7800. I would love to see Super Mario Bros. not Mario Bros. ported to both. The 7800 would handle it incredibly well, and the Colecovision would handle it well but with a bit less graphics and toned down music. Other good ones would be Mega Man and maybe Castlevania.
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

I will also say Galaga.
Although it may sound a little silly, I'd think Sonic The Hedgehog would work. Seriously. You'd only need a joystick and a button.

Final Fantasy VII
Of course it would take up an entire Audio CD and would require the use of a Supercharger to load all of the successive PMVs (Pixelated Motion Video) Also you could only have two characters in your party at one time.
HOWEVER, here is the PROOF that the Atari 2600 would be entirely capable of reproducing all of the dramatic tension provided by the Playstation version of this epic fantasy RPG.
WARNING!!!! THIS LINK CONTAINS A MAJOR PLOT SPOILER FOR FINAL FANTASY VII! ONLY GO TO IT IF YOU DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS ABOUT YOUR FINAL FANTASY VII EXPERIENCE BEING COMPLETELY RUINED BY THIS VIVID AND BRUTAL PORTRAYAL OF A KEY SCENE.

Bah! A supercharger is cheating! Give me a cart, dammit!

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
Super MArio Brothers. I think with some crazy hacking and bank switching, a relatively ok version could be made....even more possible on the 7800.
Either way, it would be an incredible feat.

If that's the case, then why not form a collective of 2600 programmers to create massively oversized 2600 games? I remember some of the graphics demos, like the dancing baby. Heck, I think MULE is more than doable if you have 512K to work with.Originally Posted by Thomas Jentzsch
