Default Controller buttons too sticky for DC Space Channel 5?

I've bought this game 3 times over, and finally played to the end of the first stage for the first time. My rating was only 6% after 3 tries. I swear this game is more responsive on PlayStation 2 than it is on Dreamcast. Anybody here agree or disagree with this?

And, no, I don't suck at rhythm games...
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Same problem I have -- I think it's the game more than anything, though. Samba de Amigo (similar concept, same controller) is still challenging, but seems to be slightly more forgiving.

I wish it were easier to play, since it's funny as hell. There is a code to simply have the computer play through for you, but I'd hate to ruin it that way.

I've beaten it on both consoles, and I DO suck at rhythm games

I actualy had more problems on the PS2 version. Perhaps its the size difference in the controler that is the problem.

i made it to like the 3rd level, but that game annoys me, so i stopped playing it. she would be like, "left right shoot shoot shoot" and i would hear, "left blah blah blah blah" from me somehow not hitting right when i know for a fact that i did hit it.

The game is very picky about the timing. I learned that the hard way when I had to redo the first level about a million different times.

Right now I have a save game on the last level. But that's the catch; you almost need to play it and finish it in one sitting because of the momentum you build over the levels. I load my game, and I fall flat on my face because it's "cold". You need to get back into the groove before you can really make any progress.

Yes, I agree. I played through the first level about 5 or 6 times before getting to the second level. I KNEW I was pushing the buttons at the RIGHT time, but it always ended up wrong. What worked for me was pushing the button about half a second after the time that you think it might be. I dunno if this works for others. but it worked for me...

I'm generally good at rhythm games but I don't know what the hell is going on in SC5. I tried and tried but never got nowhere, I just told myself the game was broken and carried on.

I think the problem is that the game is shit. There are much more compelling and satisfying (and child-molesting-former-pop-star-free) music games out there. Give Gitaroo Man a shot, it absolutely slays Space Channel 5. Or Mad Maestro. Or Parappa. Or Um Jammer Lammy. There's no reason to settle for a turd when there are diamonds out there.

Gotta love valuable input in a thread....
Personally, I think gitaroo man and SC5 are tied for first, with lammy in second, and mad maestro in 563rd.
But, I wouldn't go around calling mad maestro a worthless piece of shit not worthy of me throwing a penny at....

I largely agree with Sylentwulf here. But what's this? No Samba De Amigo love??? I would put Samba de Amigo and Amplitude joint first. Space Channel 5 Parts 1 & 2 joint second. Then Frequency, and then somewhere at the bottom of a mineshaft and digging for the earth's core come Mad Maestro and also Parappa the Rapper .. which was the worst £10 I ever expended on a PS2 game, even beating Twin Caliber for sheer awfulness.

I dug Amplitude and Frequency, and I've done pretty well on Mad Maestro and Umjammer Lammy despite the fact that I hate the music. SC 5 is easier on PS2, and I'm sticking to that.

I need to get Get on Da Mic. I'd probably beat that game in one sitting.
