    Default SC-3000/SG-1000/MS/mark III clarity needed

I was looking at a magazine and some websites, including this one.

I see Master System and Sega mark III are effectively the same - thanks Raccoon Lad and others.

But can people confirm I've got the following straight?

    · 1) SC3000 and SG1000 are effectively the same.

    · 2) MS/mk III have higher specification than 3000/1000, better graphics or whatever - that is, MS/mk III is a somewhat different machine from 3000/1000.

I mean in the way that (arguably) a PCE Super Grafx is different from a normal PCE/TurboGrafx, or an Amiga 1200 is different from an A500.

    · 3) Sega 'My Card' games are designed *for*the*spec.* of 3000/1000 but also play on a card slot MS/S mk III.

    ????

    Thanks!

The Sg-1000 and SC-3000 are an earlier console than the SMS/Mark III
The SMS/Mark III is just backwards compatible with them.

Essentially, a SG-1000/SC-3000 is roughly the same as a Colecovision or MSX-1 in terms of graphical abilities and processing power.

and the SG-1000 is a console, where as the SC-3000 is a computer. Kinda like the Colecovision and the Adam.

There's also Mark III-specific My Cards.

Well, those aren't exacly "My Cards", as the Mark III ones don't say "My Card" on them like the SG-1000 My Cards do.

Right, so although the 1000/3000 cards can be played on a Master Sytem, they play with graphics etc worse than the machine could do, like playing MSX1 games on an MSX2, or MS games on an adaptered-up MegaDrive?

Yup. There's 14 Japanese Mark III cards - check SMSpower for full listings.

Take a look here for screenshots of various SG-1000 / SC-3000 games.

I'd be interested if you were willing to split them - I've no interest in the Basic carts, but I'd take Safari Hunt in a second.

"John Sands" is the PAL version from Australia or New Zealand. I accidentally bought one from someone in Hong Kong. I think just the machines are PAL or NTSC and the carts work in either. I'm pretty sure some of my cart boxes are John Sands too.

I don't want to split the lot, the 3 are for sale together. Shipping from Canada to UK could be high too. I'm asking 35$ for the lot

PM me if you are interested
