You're missing my choice, Gradius Gaiden. Otherwise I'd vote NES Life Force, then Famicom Gradius II

Gradius 3 is my fav...first one I played of the series, and still the only one (besides life force) I was able to finish without continueing (thank you, konami code )

Gradius 3 and Lifeforce are probably my top favs of the series.

Gradius 2 was the best I remember After playing lifeforce and seeing the latest issue of a bi-monthly publication by EGM Forgot the name of it it had a mini preview of GRADIUS 2 and I was like AHHHHHHH got to have it I never did untill many many years later and I can say it's my favorite but maybe because it was out of my reach for so long.

I have to go with the SNES Gradius III (which is a different game than the arcade). Despite the slowdown and such, it's still my favorite, followed by Gradius Gaiden. I have a lot of nostalgic memories attached to Gradius III...

Don't forget - Gradius II and IV were both originally arcade games... in fact, the Famicom version of Gradius II is quite a bit different when compared to the arcade game. So was Life Force, for that matter. Here, read this article I posted on the OPCFG a while back.

I agree with Dire 51 about Gradius III on SNES. God I HATE the slowdown, but I really like that game (and it IS different than the arcade, I kept hoping to find it as an unlockable on the PS2 disc, but alas...)

LifeForce is a close second. That's a great game.

It's Gradius Gaiden all the way for me. That game was exclusive to the Japanese Playstation, sadly, but it's worth the trouble of hunting it down in you're a Gradius fan. There's not a Gradius game in the series that can top it, although Salamander/Life Force II is excellent in its own right. And of course, we can't forget about those wacky Paradious games!

Gradius III on the SNES will always be my favorite Gradius game. It was the first Gradius I ever played, and I have some big time memories with it...and it's just overall the best one in my opinion.

I voted for the pc engine version of Lifeforce(salamander). One of the hardest ones,great graphics and music and very little slowdown. I like the whole series but that one sticks out as my favorite.

My 2 cents go toward III. I used to play it every day before school. I would have to start hella early. That was 2 years ago. I have beat it twice. Love it. Classic. I do like any Gradius though. Poll doesn't have 5. What about Parodius?b

Gradius Gaiden is my favorite in the whole franchise.
I am also partial to the original Gradius (NES).

I am also prefer Salamander to Life Force…

All are great game but these are my favorite.
