Default Which System Had The Fewest Decent Games?

To be fair, I think it should be a system that had a minimum of 50 or so games for it. Which system had a library that pretty much sucked?

For me, I might pick the Atari Jaguar. True, they did have a couple truly great games (Tempest 2000 and Alien Vs. Predator specifically come to mind) but can you actually name more than a handful of good games? Do the titles "Fight For Live", "Air Cars" and "Club Drive" ring a bell?

You forgot that I said the systems we're considering should have at least a 50-game library. It's unfair to put this on a system like the VB which had fewer than 20 games made for it.

Well, overall, I'd have to say the Phillips CD-I, but if you have to have a 50+ game library, I'd go with the Jaguar too.

    Default well, i dunno...

    good jag games:

    rayman
    alien vs. predator
    doom
    wolfenstein 3D
cybermorph (you have to PLAY it, not look at screenshots)
    battlemorph (ditto)
    ultra vortek
    power drive rally
    towers II
    super burnout
    tempest 2000
    defender 2000
    iron soldier
    iron soldier 2
raiden (even though it's impossible to complete)
hover strike (well, i liked it)
    hover strike cd (ditto)
    flip out
    cannon fodder

i think there are a few more, but the system simply has a bad reputation attached to it (with good reason, the way it was handled by the company suits)...=^P

i'd say the n64 was a bigger disappointment. blurry graphics, few solid action titles or rpgs, some really poor games (which sold well) among the gems (many which went to stores with little to no marketing- goemon's great adventure, body harvest, or space station silicon valley come to mind), and nintendo's lax marketing of later releases (STRRRRRAIGHT to blockbuster!) make it frustrating to recommend the console to anyone who's not a fan of mario, link, sports or racing games...=^P

My votes for the 3DO. I have two units and about 45 games and I like about five of them. I have also played several others that I don't have and most of them suck, I can understand poor graphics for their time, but most were just plain stupid like way of the warrior which was about the most B-grade fighting game I played, then I look at Escape From Monster Manor and look at how corny the sound effects. and come on these games were suppose to be realistic, but to me it looks like they modeled them after the Space Balls or Monty Python Genre, and almost everyone is like that. Well that's my 2 bits for today

I'm gonna go with the Japan-exclusive PC-FX, which barely had fifty games in its library. Most of them aren't awful so much as they're just generic (and often hentai) anime-style digital comics. I'd say there are no more than ten notable titles for the system. Let's see: Team Innocent, Battle Heat, Zeroigar, Zenki, Blue Breaker, Farland Story FX, Power Dolls FX, Der Langrisser FX, that FMV Tengai Makyo fighting game, and Miraculum: The Last Revelation.

My runner-up is actually the Lynx. I'm fond of it in a root-for-the-underdog sort of way, but I can only think of about a dozen memorable games for the little handheld.

And half of the Virtual Boy games were good stuff. Name me another system for which you can claim that.

    Neo-Geo Pocket / Color

    and, less seriously,

    Nintendo E-Reader.

As for the main thread topic, I think Lynx and especially Jaguar are good choices. CDi and its edutaintment-loving ilk kind of go without saying, don't they?

Virtual Boy?...if we're breaking the 50 game rule set up initially, Red Alarm, Mario Tennis and Galactic Pinball save this system from being the ultimate stinker, which is of course....

The virtual boy each game was good in its own way galactic pinball is the best pinball game on any system. Just to watch some of these games in 3d vector graphics is a treasure and should not be missed. Get one if you can and you will see what i mean by the way odyssey 2 is the worst i hate it i know its not past 50 games but i have to mention it. I feel sick every time i see it in my closet.

Agreed. The N64 is the first to come to mind for me too.

You think Jaguar64's better than N64? Wow! My experience with N64 is still limited, but I think the graphics in Perfect Dark are awesome. Turok 1 & 2 are awesome "scary" shooters that make you jump out of your seat. Mario64 and Banjo-Kazooie are cool, fun, hip games. And the graphics, thanks to 640x400 resolution, look awesome. Given all that, I find it hard to believe Jaguar64 is better?

Atari used both "Jaguar" and "Jaguar 64" in its ads for the system.

I hope so. After all, this *is* the dead system forum (aka classicgaming). Try http://www.metacrawler.com Type atari jaguar. Click search to find ads.

Me, I was referencing the AtariAge.com FAQ:
"Orignally released as the Jaguar, Atari had, at times, referred to the machine as the "Jaguar64" for marketing purposes."

You are incorrect, Sir. This is NOT the dead system forum. This is not the classicgaming (sic) forum. This is the video game forum.

No, Sir, I do NOT wish to search. You said that it was referred to as the "Jaguar64" in Atari's ads. I wish for you to show me proof, not point me to a search engine.

Sir, that is NOT what you originally said. Here is what you originally said:

Sir, you are not keeping your story straight. "Ads for the system" is incongrous with marketing. I wish for you to show me these ads that you have, Sir. Thank you.

You play a good game, BOYYYYY!

Then I correct my previous statement, "According to AtariAge.com's FAQ, Atari referred to both 'Jaguar' and 'Jaguar64' in their marketing."

So, if Atari can call their system "Jaguar64"... so can I.
