Default Can Anyone Identify this game?

Can anyone Identify this odd early Famicom game?

It's actually a cartridge with gane board game, warrior figures, cards, game board pieces etc. Looks like theres a place in the box where dice might have been. Namcot 1986

I sold my famicom sytem a while back so I cant even boot up the game to check it out. It looks pretty mint though.

    anyone?

Next time you might want to take it easy with that "submit" button when posting; we're experiencing some lag on the forums right now, so while it goes slow, is still goes through. Welcome to the forums

My, you know how to make an entrance. About the cart, I can't help you out. But, why is it so short?

That big flash in the center of the board doesn't help much either. Try to get somebody like GaijinPunch or Maxlords to tell you what it is.

"Namcot"? Sounds like a bootleg, along the lines of "Tatid" games.

Namcot isn't bootleg stuff. They show a pic of a game in the timeline and it says "Namcot". I have no idea what determines their usage of the word "Namcot".

Namcot is not bootleg. I am sure pirate carts have been released that say namcot on them.

Anyhow, that fami game look too nice to be a pirate. I am not sure what it is.

Since there is a flash over the title, I can't translate it for you.

Namcot is definitely a common way Namco put their names on Famicom items. No clue why, but it is on everything.

The flashed-over symbols , I can't make em out, but The First is "Ban" Second and Third, "?", and last two is "Maden," I believe, but it's faint, so it's hard to tell.

I believe that game appeared in Namco Museum Vol. 4 for the Playstation. I had the japanese version and I couldn't tell you what the hell it was called there. But in the US port it was called "The Genji and Heinke Clans" or something very close to that.

It's just about the most bizarre game I've ever seen. Either there's some cultural roadblock between me and whoever designed that game, or the programmers were on a LOT of drugs.

Basically, you run around and blow up spiders and other feudal-japan-demon-looking things with your sword. Your life meter is cool-a bunch of candles. They melt as you take a hit. Your score is in either hexadecimals or in Japanese-text or something, and I couldn't read it. (It looked like tennis scores: 0-5, etc.)

There are 3 scenes-small-character side view, LARGE character side view, and an overhead screen that is some kind of bonus stage. That map on the cover is the map of areas you traverse in the game. Some levels have multiple exits (which look like football goal-posts) and you go to different provinces depending on which exit you choose.

And, of course, it's loaded with all sorts of completely insane babble and screaming in Japanese.

And BTW--I think Namcot was Namco's home division in the '80's.

Here are some better pics and pics of the game board and pieces that go with the cartridge. The copyright is 1986.

And here's some more useless help. It's on page 73 of Fami-Complete, first book, so it's definitely not a pirate. It came out 10/21/88. I can't do much more without the ability to read Japanese though.

Namcot was the old name before they dropped the t, we now know them as good ol' Namco.

Did they make other games that came with a game board and pieces?

Do the game board and video game work together as one game?

How odd. I thought in the Japanese language that t could not be pronounced by itself.
