Should I be keeping my games in the boxes?

Hi all, I was just wondering your thoughts.
I have a decent collection of about 350 games and about 50% of them I have been keeping the boxes with the shrinkwrap and all. I have been keeping them in larger cardboard boxes in a closet while I've been displaying my games in racks and shelves in my gameroom.
What I'm wondering is... how imprtant is it to keep these games in the boxes, I mean I still pull them out and play them now and then and I'm not sure re-opening game boxes is the way to go.
I suppose that since they are open box anyway that maybe the condition of the box could stand to get beat up a little but I want to hear all of your thoughts on this. x_x

I keep my games in the box, but only because in most cases I have a loose copy that's somewhat expendible to grubby hands and tossing across the room in ultimate frustration. The few I don't have doubles of (NES Blackjack for example) aren't worth playing anyways so they'll always remain boxed.

If you don't have doubles then my suggestion would be to just store the boxes away nicely and leave the games out in their sleeves (if you have the space). Or, well, do what you want to. It's your collection.

I've got my SNES games out of their boxes, but that are only 25 games (indeed because the box isn't getting better when you open it "x" times).
I also put my Dreamcast and Saturn games in a big case logic map, but that is because of those cases we have as euro gamers (DC cases break if you even look at it).
If you've got the room i would store them outside their boxes, at least the games you play often.

I don't play many cartridge games. For SNES it's RPG's, and they're in the console for at least a month each time they're out of their box, so I don't put any effort into keeping them out of their boxes. Of course I keep my GBA games outside their boxes in the little plastic bags. Very convenient that they come with those.

I keep the CD/DVD games I play in a CD-wallet. I've finally found one with an absolute minumum of "scratch potential", but of course I keep the rarer games I have, such as RSG, Chi No Rondo and PDS, in seperate jewel cases. It'd be too much of a bother to open my seal kings and make sure that the spine card didn't get bent all out of shape (it looks LAME if they aren't on the shelf with the spines on the side in the seal king ), if I kept my CD games in their original cases. The CD-wallet thing is also very convenient when I go to meet-ups.

I keep my often played AES games in plastic bags. I don't want to mess around with my Mark Of The Wolves snap-lock caes every time I feel the need to kick some behind

I have loose un-boxed copies of most of the better games for systems such as NES etc.. means i dont have to keep fumbling with cardboard when i want to give Mario Bros. 3 a sound beating.

Especially since I'm a clumsy oaf that will end up tearing flimsy boxes.

Beh stupid UK nothing even remotely like NES sleeves, maybe I should order some from over the great Ocean?

Most CD games, I keep in portable CD cases

The "New Gen", in DVD cases, I keep in those cases...but if my collection grows much more, I may go ahead and store those cases in the basement as well...

If you mean the black slip-on sleeves, then at least half of the NES games I've found over here have had them.
