Well, I know it's not my first violent game (I'd been playing Mortal Kombat, Wolfenstein, Doom, etc. long before this) but the first game I remember ever really shocking me was a little point-and-click shareware adventure game for windows, I believe called "Dare to Dream."

I remember my character wandering through a sewer pipe and coming out on the other end to find a whole field filled with dead bodies impaled on pikes. I remember that really freaking me out.

First violent game I owned would more than likely be Code Name: Viper. It was explicit for it's time and I'm surprised a game about a drug cartel fell through the cracks like that, considering NOA would censor out crosses.

i'd have to say games like ganster town or duckhunt, shooting people with a black gun and doing drive-bys, and who hasn't tried to shoot the dog from duckhunt once or twice....

My first "violent" game (depending on how you define it) would be, I believe, Commando on the Atari 2600.

    Pac-man

poor pacman being chased by a gang out to kill him so he runs around looking for the PCP/roids mix pills he lost so he could get "powered up" and take on that gang and in turn kill them

-- frekin violent if you ask me
The human operates out of complex superiority demands, self -affirming through ritual, insiting upon a rational need to learn, striving for self-imposed goals, manipulating his environment while he denies his own adaptive abilities, never fully satisfied.

Gotta be Mortal Kombat for me just because of the blood factor.

My first violent video game would probably be Karate Champ for the NES. My most ridiculously violent video game was either Carmageddon or Postal. I can't remember which one I played first.

Metal Slug 1. I remember playing it at an arcade-esque place when I was 8. I loved it.

It wasn't too graphic, but Splatterhouse was probably my first violent game.

I would have to say that Mortal Kombat was my first violent game...

Or if you count it TMNT in the arcades which I used to play all the time.

Since I'm not sure when it was or what the order is, and the exposure around the same time, the couple potential games are:
    Bloodbath (MAC)
    Warcraft (PC/MAC)
    Doom (PC)
    Wolf3D (PC)

I was exposed to Wolf3D around the time of Doom because a friend had a bunch of games bought from his parents. I got Wolf3D shareware on a floppy and did that through a few times, same with Doom. When my Packard Bell went to crap and replaced it with a Micron the guy gave us a bunch of games like Doom 1 & 2, X-wing, Kings Quest 5, and Nascar.

My neighbor got a computer around the same time as me in early 90's, but instead got a MAC. On there he played Warcraft and Bloodbath with a few others I don't recall and weren't violent for that matter. After seeing Warcraft I got into Blizzard games, and with Cyberia and KQ5, Sierra became a big player for me as well.

This all depends on how violence is rated. Certainly, my first Mortal Kombat experiences would be considered violent, but my first Mature game was Resident Evil...that redefined for me how truly violent video games could be. Now, it did come out a couple of years after Mortal Kombat, and Mortal Kombat was violent for its time.
I still prefer 2D Mortal Kombat as opposed to 3D.

I remember my dad being unsure about letting me play Super Smash TV on the Megadrive when I was seven or eight. He did and I thought it was a great game.

Looking at it now, it's just blobs shooting blobs at other blobs. How times have changed. I haven't played that game for years and years.

The first game my parents actually disproved of was GTA when I borrowed it from a friend. They disproved of the concept, but they still let me play it. My parents are great. When I got my PS2 I got GTA3 with it. The shop assistant said "This is rated 18" and my dad said "Oh, well I'll play it then."

Doom or Mortal Kombat, it's a toss-up. I can't remember which one I played first. That's pretty bad, considering I'm 20 years old.
