That's odd. I thought sealed copies for $350 on eBay were a real ripoff. I see some of the bidders don't seem to be Japanese, but in any case this seems highly unusual.
There's another with 2 days left going for 1K yen (which is about $9.50). Odd indeed. I bet a number of Y!AJ-goers are getting a good chuckle out of this.
Nope... it's still got a ways to go.
I think the last one finished over 50,000 yen.
Tengai Makkyou II -- a game which would never get over 3500 yen if it was absolutely mint, will get over 20,000 yen if it's sealed. Sapphire, on the other hand, will only add about 50% of it's value at most, as there are for some reason a decent amount of sealed copies relatively to opened ones.
Remember, sealed games for Japanese collectors are worth something, and PC-Engine makes it a double-whammy.
That's really odd...I bought one last year for $199.
If it was in fact factory sealed, you got a good deal. The cheapest I'd heard of it was 23,000 yen in Nipponbashi, and that was quite a while ago. I've never seen one sealed at Medialand, although I've gotten some other goodies sealed there.
Wow....those are some pretty wild prices. I guess the overpricing of sealed games is a worldwide phenomenon

If I recall, the $350 (BIN) sealed copies of Rondo on eBay weren't selling. The first few copies I saw like that may have sold, but those you could buy for $350 weren't. The copy I bought was from Gamechoice.com.hk, and it does indeed seem to be factory sealed (with spine card, though I want to go check out the back of that spine since I don't recall seeing the flame logo on the back; other than that, yeah, it's very much a legit PC-E CD-ROM case). I don't know why Game Choice would underprice something, but maybe they did. Odd.
Well, it happens from time to time.
I got a sealed Sapphire at Media Land for a bit over the mint price, when they were going for 65,000+ yen on Yahoo Japan. I promptly sold it.
I almost never posted sealed games on Ebay... they go higher in Japan.

One thing about Dracula X...where the spine card goes across the back edge, does it have the Dracula "X" logo, or the flame (also seen on the cover of the Dracula X soundtrack)?

Hmm. I'll have to check the auction (I saved it on one PC) but I think the $383 one on YAJ had a flame on the back of the spine card (where it folds over again). That's different from my copy and others I've seen across the internet, which is odd. Maybe I'm seeing things, but I don't think so. Could be a label variation...

if you know what your doing you can convincingly seal a game with a hairdryer theres some weird roll of plastic you buy and wrap it around and run over it with a hairdryer my friend buys alot of cds from underground labels that dont seal their cds and when he puts em in his store he shrink wraps em like that and it looks exactly like its factory sealed
Well, "factory-sealed" isn't shrinwrap (98% of the time) so it's easy to tell if they're factory-sealed or re-sealed. Most used game shops in Japan re-seal games, but label them as used.
