Default Stuff You Recently Discovered Is RARE

OK here's a thread I'd like to update every other month or so. Sort of a "heads up" for gamers of all different systems. I'm also considering making this a side-box on my Tips & Tricks column (with the Retrogaming Roundtable again listed as the "council" on this).

This idea popped into my head when I realized...

What the HELL? Bust-a-Groove 2 for PSX is RARE? I mean... THAT rare? Check out some sellers, online auctions, etc. www.half.com has sellers expecting over $100 for it.

I've got some more that I found while studying PSX games today, but list ANY title, ANY system here, if you've discovered its rare either through personal experience, a trade, inside info, or even online availability.

Toejam isn't rare. it was produced in large quantities, and it is just in high demand, and everybody wants it, so they'd pay a lot of money for it. I thought Harvest moon 64 was rare too cuz i saw it on ebay for up to 60 bucks, but it's just in high demand.

Well, i just recently figured out that Ren and Stimpy Fire Dogs will be rare, since it was only available by rental. i got it at video update when they were selling out they're stock. i have it with the box too.
Somebody once told me to get a life.

I told them I sold it for money to buy video games.

    Default eye-pop

i've sold a few games here and about, and later found out i more or less shot myself in the foot somewhat:

discworld (playstation)- bought part one on ebay for 10.50 (perfect shape!), found part two new for 9.99 at a music store that sold games from a small cardboard box near the cash register. sold them both to some VERY happy lady for $30. thought i made out like a bandit, until i saw that she auctioned off both games and got about $120 (d'oh!)

sonic council (saturn)- so-so 2D fighter. had it, hated it, dumped it for $25 with shipping- later found out it's was worth about $65 used (ugrgle)

groove on fight (saturn)- ditto. the boxed one fetches about 80 bucks or more. sold mine for $35 (oog)

intelligent qube (psx)- bought mine new for $19.99 at a kay-bee sale (they had a LOAD of them)- played it, finished it, sold it for $15. try and find one cheap now, lol...

indiana jones and the infernal machine (n64)- ONLY sold online via lucasarts or in selected blockbuster video shops. spent 3 months scouring blockbusters around the city, finally snatched a complete one off ebay for about $60. 4 of the other bidders e-mailed me offering everything from $100 to a complete porno collection (40 tapes! you can't beat that man!"). i kept the game this time...

    Default Terry Pratchett's SH!T isn't THAT Rare!

Those discworld games are rare, but they aren't worth $120 She might of got luckly off some idiot. Like Sothy just said his sealed copy only went for $30

Oh and in case someone needs these two games, a local store near me has both 1 & 2 used for around $15-20 each. I could pick them up, if it's worth it to anyone.

Yashiro - You had me all excited for a minute there, but I checked out eBay and that auction was obviously a fluke. One person bid $50 and another person with no feedback bid 14 times to get it as high as possible. $20 is typical for game with jewel case and instructions.

    Oh well!

Then I sold it for $350 and bought a turboduo and a LOT of games

I was shocked when I read in this board (or was it the old Ezboard version?) that King Arthur and the Knights of Justice (SNES) was rare. Of all my SNES carts, it's the one I like least, along with Rocko's Modern Life (great cartoon, baaaaad videogame!).

Default A Space Adventure - Mega CD

I didn't even know that this game existed, until I saw this auction...

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=1384468673

anyone else ever come across a PAL "Space Adventure" for the Mega CD? Or know roughly what it is actually worth?

I know Snatcher is fairly rare ... I have seen it go for up to £70. I got mine on a BIN for £30, and was very happy!!

    Default ugh!

it was released here in the u.s. in limite4d quantities as well. the japanese version is called space adventure cobra, and i believe it's based on the 2nd pc-engine cd game, called (remarkably enough) space adventure cobra II...

it's NO snatcher, by the way- more of a "b" movie/digital comic hybrid...

I passed up the Coleco Smurf Paint Pro game up for the adventure Smurf CV game because I didn't have the hardware to play the former. Later I learned that it commands a #5 rarity rating in the DP Guide. I could have bought it for $3. *stabs self with rustry screwdriver*. Also, I bought SFII CE for PC Engine, and the seller throws in what turns out to be the PC Engine Purple Barney Converter for free. I didn't care, since I had a PC Engine Duo and a Turbo Duo at the time and didn't need a converter, so I put it up on eBay and guess what? it sold for more than my Duo did! $132.00! woo hoo!

Basically all the Saturn games (30) I received with my White Saturn back in late 1998 for $200. Soon, I started trading them for cheap garbage, now i'm kicking myself 10x over... Especially the Psychic Ninja Taromaru game... I did trade it for a Turbo Duo, which later broke... The only two I still have left from the 30 are Super Real Mahjong Grafitti and Keio Yugekitai...

Puzzle Fighter for PSX. Wow! I just looked on ebay at that one and whew! If it wasn't for the fact I really like it, I'd consider letting it go for those prices!

Who'd have thought my childhood Rampage game for 7800 was actually a rather sought after and rare title?

A little while ago I read somewhere in the forums that Swat Kats for SNES is supposedly somewhere between a 7 and a 10... I wish I knew the exact number.

I've never seen the game on e-bay untill today..... no bids on it and just over one day left... no pictures and it doesn't say anything about a box or manual.... Probably not that much demand for it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1383611729

I have a box with my copy of the game... too bad the stupid re-sell stickers ruined it.

The greatest surprise I have had would be this:

A long time ago, a friend of mine was the manager of a Toys R Us, and he called me one day, telling me about a Dragonball game on the PSX. Being a huge fan, I ran down there. Of course, it was Dragonball GT: Final Bout. I bought a copy for $30, as did another friend and my friend who worked there.
After playing it, I decided to go buy a few more copies to give to fellow DB fans for their birthdays, Christmas, etc.

Fast forward about 5 years, and I had become a video game collector. Looking through my collection, and finding the values of my games and systems, I rediscovered Dragonball GT, as well as two unopened copies. After finding out that they were selling for $150 on EBay, I ran to tell my other friends who had copies of the game. One person had traded his in years ago to get another game, and another friend sold me his for $30, since I was the one who got it for him.

So at one time, I had 4 copies of Dragonball GT: Final Bout, two of which were still sealed.

    I couldn't have been happier.

I never thought that The Raiden Project for the PSX would ever command more than $20 on eBay, but that's what it does in nearly every auction. And they say that no one likes old-school shooters.

So Geelw, Sonic Council isn't particularly good?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1389988143

    Uh oh.
