NeoGeo AES Game Cases?

The one console I never bought was a Neo Geo AES and I keep getting closer and closer to buying one.

My question though are there any cases for the games themselves that I could buy? I don't own a single loose cartage or CD in my collection and I utilize TheCoverProject.net extensively. As much as I'd like to get an AES I won't do it if I have to have loose carts or if I cannot create nice cases like we have for all the other systems out there. (Yes, I am OCD).

If anyone knows of any or where I can look I'd appreciate it.

I would go MVS instead of AES. Then you can use shock boxes.

We may do AES BitBoxes eventually, but not tops on our priority list.

I thought about it but MVS really isn't my thing.

Unlike on other systems, you don't see loose AES games very often. A majority of second hand games sold still have their cases.

The Cover Project doesn't have covers for them but the above company does sell them - http://southtown-homebrew.com/index.php?cPath=1

So it's about $8.00 for the case and $3.00 for the cover art, while much more than it's actually worth that's what I'll end up doing. I know I'll only have a limited number of AES carts since they didn't make a ton to begin with so the extra cost isn't out control.

Edit: Just realized they allow you to download the cover art and print it yourself. Excellent, I'll be able to save a few bucks.

I finally gave in and just bought an AES off eBay. It was $300 and came with four games, I'm pretty happy with that deal.

It's a weird feeling though as I now own every console I want. Until the next generation comes out I'm good, guess that means I'll have to concentrate solely of games from here on out.

Oof, I got here a bit late. Frankly, I'd suggest just emulating the Neo Geo on a PC. There are plenty of emulators that do NeoGeo pretty much perfect, and USB Neo Geo controllers exist. Going the actual-hardware route is a huge money sink, as the community is mostly insane. You also have to deal with the possibility of bootlegs and such. Really not worth getting involved with in my opinion.

Since you're already getting an AES though, I guess the above paragraph will be mostly ignored. I would suggest getting an MVS adapter like the Phantom-1. There are some popular games like Puzzle Bobble that were just never released in AES format (see this list for more info), and other like Metal Slug that are basically unobtainable in AES format. MVS carts are much more boring and simple than AES carts... but also far cheaper and easier to find (Although those savings will end up being moot if you insist on getting boxes for them).

If you want to get the most out of your AES, I would also suggest looking into installing the Universe BIOS. It lets you switch games into MVS mode, change regions, cheat, play music, etc.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right. I have never liked emulation and there's something about doing it on the original hardware. I wanted an AES so that's how I'm going to play it, no MVS adapters or anything like that. All games will be played exactly how Neo Geo designed them.

My mind is blown that you did "a bunch searching" just to come up with shockboxes from the same place I linked originally.

AES is a pricey path to go down, though good luck regardless.
