Whoa, you're making my eyes hurt typing in all caps like that!

You'll need to use a Game Genie to plug the game in, 'cause Japanese games won't fit unless you have an adaptor to play them (in this case, a Game Genie).

And later games are locked by checking the refresh and language jumpers on the circuit board. For those games you need a Nitro or Mega Key adaptor.

I'm moving this to the current forum du Jour, Importmania! where we are discussing just this very thing.

Also, please note starting 4 different topics asking the same question is not needed.

Yeah...a Mega Key is best for that, but a Game Genie is a cheap alternative in a pinch for the old stuff! And please....PLEASE use proper capitalizations and spelling, not troll-ese!

If someone broke the parts of the SEGA Genesis, the imported game cartridges would fit ... or using a adapter or some combo cartridge to play imports .

Please explain to me why you felt the need to bump a 5-year old topic?

It was by accident I only wanted to bump a FOUR YEARS old topic, but I accidentally hit the button when the browser was on this window. Since I not found a delete button, I wrote something anyway ...

Wanted a topic about SG-1000 and cartridges, the Genesis can't play those games even with a adapter!!!

It's generally considered bad etiquette to bump old topics, especially when the OP hasn't been here in 5 years.

I've never heard that before, and I've been a member since 2003, but whatever...

That's funny, cuz I actually had an alternative method which involved using a hot knife to cut the sides off both ends of a cartdridge, which allows the game to fit and play perfectly on my old model 1. I've got a handful of imports that work this way. Of course not a good idea if you A:don't know what you're doing or B:don't want to mess up your precious cartridge. In a similar fashion, Super Famicom imports work perfectly on the old SNES model 1's by taking a hot screwdriver and melting grooves into both ends of the cartridge, rendering them completely playable as well. I'm pretty sure this is nothing new to a lot of us, but I figured I'd mention it. If only we could do that with imports nowadays...

Since when? Generally speaking this board doesn't repeat topics.

Basically, you can't win. Someone either reprimands you for bumping an old topic... or starting a new thread on something that's been discussed before (use the search function, blah blah..). Such is forum life

Ah, but this is a crappy thread, in which I'd say bumping it is bad.

There are a lot of Genesis games that have internal region locks, not just the cartridge shape. In the case of these you need to install a region switch.

Installing a region switch is the best way to go.

Correct. And it's extremely easy to do.

In one of my consoles (model 1) I did it having barely any knowledge of electricity. It's very simple as long as you follow the instructions.

I should've meant bumping old topics where the OP asks a question which has likely been solved, such as this thread. I highly doubt the OP is gonna come back and follow this up.
