Default Found something in a crappy PAWN SHOP of all places

I've found that pawn shops tend to be fairly crappy resources for games... usually these places don't have anything good, what they do have is overpriced, and the people who work there are amoung the most shady people you will meet in retail (if you consider pawn shops to be legitimate retail)

however, I was drving by a place where I once got a few decent Saturn games a few years back, so I pulled in. They have had crap since then, but one never knows. I looked at the glass display full of overpriced PS2 games and loose N64 carts and was about to give up when I saw something jammed into a corner of the case... a complete Keio Flying Squadron for the Sega CD! It's a cool little shooter that's evidently pretty hard to find. And it was only $10!!! Perfect condition! You could shrink wrap it and you'd think it was new.

That being said, pawn shops still suck.

Man, that's one of the best finds I've heard of in a while. Wanna trade it?.

Pawns aren't that bad. I've been getting some killer deals on PS1 games there lately. The pawns around here only care about PS2 games, so they let the PS1 games sell for dirt cheap 'cause they think nobody will want them.

I seem to find pawn shops to be one of the best resources for finding games (besides garage sales). A huge chunk of my collection is from pawn shops. I find they are also the cheapest place to get old games, such as NES, SNES.

Don't be bashing pawn shops now...

My pawn shop literally has almost a crate of Atari Games to shift thru and they have stacks of super nintendo, nintendo and genises games.. Occasionally I find a few saturn games or some good ps1 games like I got Sukioden Missing back for 6.99 plus it was %20 off day so it was like less then 6 bucks in the end.. plus no one around here but me really collects any thing "Retro" think i've seen 1 guy shift thru anything besides super nintendo browsing and new Console looking thru thier glass display

All the pawn shops near me are in, like, the Cleveland Ghetto. It's risky to drive THROUGH most of them, let alone get out of your car.

Maybe it's just here in georgia... I've lokked at maybe 10-15 pawn shops and found maybe 10 games in 2 years. Seriously, these guys working in these places generally smoke at the counter and treat you like you're wanting to buy a gun. I'm sure they deal with some real low-lifes in these places who try to sell stolen stuff, but I am obviously shopping when I go in and I'm not some stinky crack head-type. I guess it just comes with the territory, but pawn's are low on my list of stops. Gald I had some luck, and glad you guys get more out of pawns than I do!

I ain't scared of NOTHIN'! I've been in the Salvation Army on Euclid! ;-)

Pawn shops definitely get some of the weirdest stuff. One of them by my house had an MSX, but for $50, I want more than just the computer itself. Like maybe some hookup cables at least.

Awww, don't be such a wuss, dude. :P I used to drive a cab all around town (although I admit there were some parts that were shady enough that I would only drop off, not pick up). But definitely lock your car, preferably your beater car.

I'm sorry to report that the Salvation Army on Euclid is not really in "the ghetto" proper. Not that I'd want to carry a big trash bag full of money around that part of town or anything.

I don't think there are really too many parts of Cleveland that you should really be scared of visiting for pawnshopping, at least during the day.

Anyway, that's a sweet score. I just played Keio Flying Squadron for the first time last weekend, as Kid Fenris was kind enough to break out his Sega CD when I was in town for the weekend. Very cool.

Well, thiers 2 pawn shops near me one is about 10mins away it's "Ghetoish" but I would'nt be afraid to walk in or anything the other one is right by redners grocery, a old pet shop, post office, and hollywood video/game crazy combo thier more upscale then most other pawn shops and I go in thier all the time no smoking or anything. Only thing Shady about that place is the shear amount of times i've seen cops pull up and look at huge hauls of cd's and powertools that are in the back being cleaned up for sellig or on the counter ready to be put out.

Eh, wearing a leather jacket with a cell phone on your belt is close enough. Heh. It was hilarious. My mom was with me as well, and she was going super paranoid on me.

But for how much? The sals in MA and RI are starting to bump anything game related to over market value. The one by my house, last time I was there, had a genny setup for like $40 and a Genny/CD setup for $75. The NES games are usually $4... SNES games $5. It's not really worth going in there anymore.

NES and Genesis games, loose, are usually $2.25. The boxed completes or near-completes are usually $4.99.
