I don't think anyone would consider it to be an official or even unofficial NES release. It's just a press kit that happens to have a working NES cartridge inside of it that Capcom has had someone paint and otherwise modify. It's no more critical to an NES collection than owning the Mega Man press kit they did a few years back with an NES style box and cartridge shell.
Perhaps, but this one might be considered a label variant since it's an actual working cartridge of a real NES game, and I know there are some out there who actually care about that sort of thing. I, personally, do not worry about label variants when collecting... unless the price is right of course. Afraid I'm not financially blessed enough to ebay this variant however.

I think it's neat, but I don't think it's a label variant either. I suspect they just hired Iam8Bit to do these just like they did the Mega Man kits. I suspect what you will find is that these are just Duck Tales carts where they removed the labels, painted them gold and have had new reproduction front and modified back labels printed and affixed. To me it feels like more of an officially sanctioned homebrew mod.
Although I want one of those I can easily see them getting to four figures because of the limited supply.

I'm positive this would end up the same way and with all the collector's editions and other promo junk video game publishers put out nowadays, this would just be one more dust collector.
I'd be happy if the TV series just gets fully released on DVD, since Disney stopped short of doing that for some reason.
It's kind of like the Elemental Gearbolt Assassin's Case then. It's just a gold version of the regular game in different packaging, but worth way more money.

Not bad. I think I prefer the 8-bit theme, surprising no one.
This guy is currently uploading the songs from the game.

My opinion: I dig the new music but it sounds way, WAY too busy for a game. I get it, virt wanted to remake the songs but I guess he went just a taaaaaad too far. They sound like they belong in an original soundtrack (which can have extended versions of the songs) than the actual game.

Oh, is it virt? I had completely forgotten what his real name is.
One of the earlier remixes to appear on OC Remix is The Amazon Sessions, which is still as awesome today as it was back then. The Escapist even uses it as the theme music for their new poetry slam.
You can't really top that.

This was my first NES game as a kid back in the late 80's! I just downloaded the PS3 version yesterday, I only had time to play it for a half hour though, so I never finished it. The controls seem a little unresponsive at times, and the cut scenes for the storyline can get annoying sometimes. Other than that the game is faithful to the original, as the graphics and gameplay are top notch.
Got the pc version myself. I'm able to play it with a qanba stick using xpadder and it works pretty well. However, hard pogo is really particular and doesn't work as well as it did on the nes. Try turning off hard pogo. It's a lot more forgiving.
And yes the constant breaks in the action for dialogue are annoying. Do we really need a cut scene every time I pick up an object? This is a gripe I have with modern gaming in general. Interrupting the action too frequently for gratuitous reasons makes a game unbearable. That said, at least the dialogue is amusing and well-written/performed. There's just too much of it.
My new favorite game for now. I like the cut scenes since they remind me of watching Ducktales when I was younger and my son likes the game too and now hes interested in watching the television show. Time to buy some DVDs
The constant cut-scene interruptions are about my only complaint. I guess I can understand why they would go heavy on them, as they got most of the original voice cast back and wanted to use them as much as possible. You can at least skip the cut-scenes.
Some of the bad reviews this game has gotten from the likes of Gamespot and Polygon have been laughable. Their complaints have been: "The gameplay hasn't changed since the NES version", "The game is stuck in the past", "The game is too difficult and it's not fair that you have to restart a level if you get a game over". I guess these morons fail to realize the whole point behind an old school remake. And I find it funny how they think it's "unfair" that you have to restart a level if you get a game over. Don't they remember how unforgiving old games used to be? Back when "Game Over" really meant GAME OVER. They have been way too spoiled by modern games, which give you an unlimited amount of tries, and always put you back close to where you died.
Way forward's games always get trashed by the 23 year olds writing reviews these days. Double dragon got all the same criticisms, and it's awesome.
I don't get why no one wants to be challenged by games anymore. I still enjoy developing skills as I play a game. The sense of accomplishment is what makes it worthwhile.
People griped about mirrors edge too for the same reason. They wanna watch, not play. It makes no sense to me.
A friend of mine told me the game was tough but fun. He never played the NES version of the game -back in the day-, he only played it through emulation.
After he said that I played the original game a bit on Difficult and had some trouble but didn't find it -that- hard. (I didn't complete the game.) Still. Yeah. Reviewers these days think games like these are too tough.
When I was a kid I could breeze through DuckTales like it wasn't no thang. I beat the game on difficult with the best ending at age 10. It's totally doable. The COD generation are wusses.
I beat the Gameboy version all the time even on difficult, I haven't beat the NES version yet. I had the Gameboy version a lot longer than the NES version, I personally like it more.
