Default MY SNES is eating my saves!

This has been happening for a while now. My SNES doesn't always boot right the first time; sometimes it just doesn't boot, and other it garbles the game. Whenever this starts to happen, it wipes my saves!

I know there are some threads about it, but I didn't find one about the SNES specifically. I also know there's some obvious safeguard that envolves reseting the game before turning the console off, but for some reason I'm not 100% aware of it.

Anyways, if any of you guys have a solution for it, I'd be very pleased. I found out today that I lost my Zelda LTTP save (while testing a pad that I'm giving away to a friend), and I was kinda far through the game!

If you haven't, try cleaning your contacts; both on your carts and your SNES. What you described sounds like classic dirty contact symptoms.

This is an additional reason why it is important to keep game contacts clean, and consequently the system cartridge slot clean as well. It's not a common side-effect but I have experienced this myself once or twice in the last few years, where a bad boot of a game causes save data to be lost on the subsequent successful boot.
