Name this (possibly isometric) arcade beatemup

There's this game I remember seeing at a skating rink a long time ago. It looked fun, but I don't think I ever played it. The details are a bit blurry, but here goes.

It's an overhead action game. I remember it being similar to a beatemup. I think it was fantasy themed. It was definitely multiplayer. Each player was a different color, like red, green, blue, or yellow. It was mostly melee combat, possibly with spells thrown in. As mentioned in the title, it was isometric or similar to isometric.

I know the obvious answer, but it is NOT a Gauntlet title. It seemed like something a Japanese developer would make.

Dungeon Magic and Wizard Fire are the closest so far. It was more overhead than the D&D titles, and more technically advanced than Devil World. One more detail I seem to remember is that the attract screen gameplay took place in a village-ish stage.

The Capcom titles that have been mentioned aren't overhead. It's definitely not a typical sidescrolling beatemup. Thanks for all of the replies so far, though.
