I will have a Sega Genesis 1 with a Gen 1 CD, and a 32X very soon. Does anyone on here do them and do a good job? I am also looking to get a LCD put into my Nomad as well.
Thank you in advance,
Chris

It's difficult to quite play every standard import correctly. You can get VERY close through mods.
Most likely the very limited usefulness of 50hz mode would be the biggest problem. Getting PAL optimized games to run their best in USA isn't really worthwhile (so few people care, I'm not even sure of every affected title).

Lum fan.
I've gotten work done from DP members "ooXxXoo" and "Rai." I'm not sure if "ooXxXoo" is seeking new business, but you can check Rai's mod service thread here: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/show...es-WITH-PRICES!
I've gotten the following work done from the both of them:
- Region, S-video, stereo modded Genesis Model 1
- Audio fix for Turbo Express
- modern LCD and battery for Nomad
- Region, S-video, controller mod for PC Engine Duo-RX
I couldn't recommend either member more, but mods aren't cheap. Out of curiosity, what type of TV will you be playing your Genesis on? If it's an HDTV you might consider purchasing an upscaler too. I have a XRGB Framemeister hooked up to a 58 inch plasma and my Genesis games have never looked better, truly.

Compatibility wise it's better to have s-video external in this case.
Because you can't run 32X and Master System games at once, internal means having to perform the mod twice for every game. An s-video mod Genesis won't benefit 32X mode. An s-video mod 32X won't benefit Master System mode.

Also, if you wanted to be pimpin' you could get a multi-region mod on your SegaCD to go with the Genesis.
However, the value of that is debatable and depends on if you want to play Mega-CDs from other regions.
Personally, I would just mod the Genesis and the 32X. Both are the same exact procedure, just adding an amplifier on the Luma line and running the Chroma to pin 4 on the s-video connector jack. Of course it's a tad bit easier on the Genesis, in my opinion. I think the 32X should cost 5 dollars more. The benefit of doing it this way is Genesis/Master System games will look great off the Genesis side of the mod and 32X can still look great also. I just use the stereo audio mod from the Genesis to get stereo sound for both the Genesis and the Sega CD...this way you don't use a "mixing cable", but it could be done either way with similar results. I don't know too much about modding the Sega CD...yet.
