New Super Mario Bros 2 announced for 3DS & FW update Folders

This just in - New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be launching for Nintendo 3DS in August! This all-new, side-scrolling adventure features Mario, Luigi and all your fave characters from the Mario series. Are you excited to play?

youll notice the super leaf and raccoon mario appear in this game, and you can also properly fly! due August 2012.

on the downside i dont care for the art style, it just seems so bland and soulless.. the old mario games seemed to outdo each previous game, the new series seems to add some new elements and new levels and call it a day.

on another note, a firmware update for the 3ds will allow folders so you can clean up your menus.

When I read the title I got excited thinking it would be a sequel / remake of the US Super Mario Bros. 2, sort of like we got with the first Super Mario Advance GBA game. Link clicked, disappointed, then relieved I don't have to buy a 3DS.

I know it's only 4 screenshots, but it seems really cut-n-pastey to me. I can't tell whether or not some of those backgrounds are identical to the previous New SMB games, or just really close. I'm not too excited about such a safe, minimum effort from Nintendo this time around. That said, I'm sure it will still be fun.

That Zelda map is awesome! Is there a larger picture of it somewhere? Even better, is there a poster of it? I would buy it in a heartbeat!

i would die for a remake/sequel to mario 2, i love that game so much. but it seems that its a update to new super mario series. cut and paste. whoever is in charge of the art for these games should be flogged!. its just sad when 20 year old games have more soul than these barren multicolored landscapes with the odd flower, generic background, and same old enemies updated from mario 1, my least favorite mario.

I don't know about the New Super Mario Bros. series. When I look at other titles done by the same studio, it looks to me that the only reason the games are any decent is because of how much they draw from the original series. The studio doesn't seem to be very genuinely talented, compared to the studios that made Mario Kart DS or the recent Legend of Zelda titles. I played Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Bros. 1 practically alongside each other, and New Super Mario Bros. doesn't even come close to being as good.

i remember when i first saw mario 2, 3, and mario world and yoshis island. those games had such artistic merit, all the shading and detail. now everything is flat, and i despise marios character model. id prefer a more stylealized mario. the last character you want rendered toward realistic is mario.

I don't know, I really liked New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii even more. I just like the fact they have been keeping this separate series going alongside Super Mario 3D Land and the Galaxy series. The biggest wow factor of NSMBWii that was fanservice was the return of Bowser's kids, getting to fight them all in addition to Bowser Jr. I wonder if they're here to stay? When you compare the Mario series to the Sonic series you can see that more main villain characters is usually better than more friends. It's more fun to fight a variety of bad guys instead of the same bad guy over and over just using different machines. Link has fought many kinds of enemies over the years. I wonder if Nintendo will ever give Zelda an official game of her own where she retains her abilities from the Smash Bros. series. So far all she has is that cheesy CDi game that doesn't count.

It's another Mario, so quite obvious that most who own a 3DS will probably get it. There's really not much else that's worth waiting for on the 3DS other than a few games here and there. Heroes of Ruin looks promising.

I'm not too terribly fond of the art style or the music for this series, but good news none the less (Although not much of a shock, we've known for well over a year that 3D and 2D Mario platformers were on the way to the 3DS). A plain SMB platformer is still great fun even if it doesn't capture the same magic as things like SMB3 and SMW did.

Need to get back to NSMBWii someday and wrap it up. I've completely finished the DS game right down to getting all the coins, but I'm only a few worlds into the Wii release.

I'm more tickled than a Japanese porn star in a fetish film! New super Mario bros ds was allot of fun n and the Wii one was the game that brought me back to video games. I can’t wait. I would drop kick an old lady for this game hell ya!!!

The original "New" SMB was pretty fun, but it didn't really scream "play me again and again". I think I have to agree with the original poster that it seems kind of soulless, and they haven't really bothered to add anything that revolutionary. I hope the level design is better than the first game.
