    The yellowing makes the plastic very brittle. If you had Retrobrighted it, it restores much of the original strength of the plastic along with making it look nice and I wouldn't be surprised to see it survive intact if you had done it. But too late for that now.

    I still don't understand why you were apparantly sitting so far away from your console that a little tug of the controller was enough to yank everything down. Seems like a recipe for something like this to happen to be playing with so little slack in your controller cable with a system as light as this (Not much risk with a Xbox or Xbox 360 with the weight of the systems and those safety disconnects built into the cables, but not a smart move with something like a SuperNes).

    Best way to repair it is to go to hobby lobby and buy the small modeling super glue. You also need to get "accelerator". You spray the "accelerator" on after you glue it and it instantly causes the glue to dry. It is amazing and works in about two seconds. The glue is about $4 and the "accelerator" is about the same.
